Muse, one of the most innovative bands of our time. Taking elements from classical composers like Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky, and Chopin, fusing it with electrifying stadium rock and hauntingly dark lyrics about fear, God, damnation, and the powers that always watch us. So many people don't even understand what Muse is about and why they're so incredible and it's a damn shame.

Muse aren't just any band their music is a pure form of art that can fully invoke the inner emotions some of which you thought could never be possible until now. Muse does what their name implies, they don't just create music, they create art.

I'd say the reason people don't like muse is precisely because they know what they are about. Never going to get a bright happy funny pop song of happy unconditional bliss from muse. It's cool if you don't like Muse, it can be quite heavy and every song carries along with it the same mood & colour. Too much of the same can be quite boring too, praise be to every other music out there.

People think that Muse is just some rock band out of England known just for their light shows. But this, this is the true form of Muse which is a band that doesn't just make rock music, but a band that makes extraordinary pieces of music that can be compared to the like of the greats like Chopin, Mozart and Beethoven. Muse stands by their band name and does exactly as the definition means which is art.

And then they released Drones. DGMW, I love MUSE, absolutely my all time favourite band and I know I won't get sympathy here, but Drones is garbage. I hope it was just an itch Matt needed to scratch and they can get back to making music like this wonderful, wonderful song, music that makes you *feel*.

Doctor Infallible I agree with you, man. Drones makes me feel plenty, and often times I'm afraid to listen to it because of how emotional I tend to get. Same with The 2nd Law. To be honest, I love almost all of their music, and I certainly love all their albums. There isn't a single song on any of them that I don't like. And if someone doesn't agree, that's fine. What I like is my business, and then other people can like what they like. But be respectful. I don't like a lot of things, but I don't call it garbage just cause it isn't for me. Some things are objectively bad in technical terms, but not Muse. You might not like it, but it's still good music. It's just not for you. You get what I'm saying? 😊

+Isaac Morales majority/most people sadly/unfortunately don't seem to be able to understand/comprehend deeply of their 'darker' music/songs,. especially nowadays,. it's ironically a more 'happy, upbeat, & pop-ish' songs like Starlight, that majority of (especially the 'NEW fans') Muse fans seems to be so excited & go crazy the most.. it's just such a pity that this 'dark' yet beautiful, elegant song/music always got so very underrated.. Most people/human beings just simply can't understand, let alone appreciate, the 'deep' songs/music (or even things!).. sad but true reality..

Perhaps some can relate to this: There’s something about their music that seems to sooth me in moments of anger, depression, anxiety, etc. The music is just so easy on the ears but also gives off an eery calmness that I just can’t explain. It makes me feel like everything will be ok-and in so many different situations. It’s almost like when you have a bad day and finally get home, and being home brings you comfort. Well listening to their music has that same effect. I came to my place of comfort.

Absolution will forever be my favorite Muse album. This album was their peak both musicianship-wise and emotion-wise. I'm not judging them for the direction they took since BHaR or anyone who enjoys and loves their more recent albums. I'm just a little sad that there won't be more of this kind of music. Because Muse themselves won't come back to this, and no other band can even come close. Still grateful for what we got though. Man, 2003 was a hell of a year.

i will always remember this song though not for a typical reason. i was diagnosed with rectal cancer almost two months ago (august 25th). while i waited for treatment i coped with it by rewriting entire muse albums at a time. i did it in reverse chronological order. each album had a different theme which made it easier to rewrite all the songs. when i reached this one is was running out of theme ideas so i came up with an idea for a concept album about a couple and their lives together at different stages. starting off with the end of everything (apocalypse please renamed the end) then going back to the beginning (time is running out renamed life is running out). i had this grand vision of a happy album where they meet get married have kids and die together or something but as anybody who writes can tell you, you don't really have control over how a story plays out. i especially had to follow the music and it's tone. i could of written happy lyrics to sad and deep sounding heavy songs but it wouldn't sound right and the album has a lot of deep serious heavy songs especially towards the end. so the album turned out to be more like a couple meets and gets together, breaks up, the guy goes through trauma without her, they get back together, get married, then immediately divorced, the ex-wife ends up in a mental institution and at end of the album gets out finally and seemingly reconciles with her ex-husband. sorry for the roundabout way of getting to what this has to do with this song and why i will always remember it but i wanted some context first. this song is beautiful and i wrote beautiful but sad lyrics about healing and hope for the future. i wanted the album to have a happy ending but instead a list minute soul crushing twist happens that brings it to a terribly dark end specially if you interpret it a certain way. i hear that horrific twist every time the final part after the epic piano solo happens. i rewrote the whole album in one day (but not one sitting) and i felt confused as to what the hell just happened after the final song. after sitting back and thinking about the story i wrote i realized that it was basically the story of me and my ex. i mean not exactly but pretty damn close. we didn't have a happy ending either but the whole twist never happened to our relationship. anyway sorry for all the text. if you are reading this then thank you for putting up with it. i hope you understand why this song means so much to me.

Definitely one of Muses’s more mysterious, and on some level, metaphysical, pieces. It is truly sensed as other-worldly in its own dark atmosphere, and scary that its theme may well be in ours. Bellamy’s falsetto-vocals on this number are mesmerizing to me, and I wonder, “Where has he been, and what has he seen?” Another number safely in its place (again, for me) among the handful of the top tier. “Change in the air, and they'll hide everywhere, and no one knows who's in control.”

Me too. It was not in a closed stadium though. But it was on a fairly small stage on Roskilde 2004 called Arena, when they were touring for Absolution. Plus it was the perfect time in my life to see them. Muse were peaking musically in their career and I was peaking as well in my fandom.
