Muse love to play intro and outro riffs before and after songs. Sometimes they’ll play riffs from their own songs, usually b-sides, and sometimes they’ll play riffs from their favorite bands and bands that inspired them-like Nirvana, or RATM. That’s what they were doing after the song here.

Goosebumps every time I hear this song, I love it, I fell in love the very firts moment I heard it. I love so much the mix of desperation and hopelessness in their lyrics (especially their early songs)… they were the soundtrack of my 20s, and still are my favourite living band ❤️

As far as I'm aware dom Howard (the drummer) doesn't sing. It's be great if you could listen to the handler by muse, it's got some wicked guitar riffs with fantastic lyrics as per usual

first outro is actually a riff of their b-side song from uprising single titled "Who Knows Who" ft. The Streets, not a tweaked Heartbreaker Riff as some people said in the comments.

That was the first time I'd ever seen MUSE and I was hooked at once! Their music is done to absolute perfection. You really ought to read up as to how they actually put on their shows, they have their own crew and go everywhere together along with a massive road crew!

My 2nd favourite Muse track, you should download it immediately - and you can hear all the intricate Electronic & Piano sounds in the studio version. 2006 was it's release date. :) -Also you can buy/download their latest tour (Simulation Theory) on their website, it's unreal. Like a movie.

one of my favorite Muse songs for sure, so thanks for doing that. I just feel that the heavy distorted guitar doesn't sound as good as other live versions of this. I prefer the Wembley version, goes its a bit brighter and feels more upbeat, while this version sounds like the drones album, which actually was released the year before

The first riff after the song is Led Zeppelins Heartbreaker riff but tweaked. The 2nd riff is the riff used for Rage Against The Machines cover of Bob Dylan’s Maggies Farm. The drummer can’t sing but he used to do the backing vocals to Supermassive Black Hole in a robotic voice. Also the first time the drummer (Dom) did backing vocals was for the Muse cover of Andy Williams Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You. The only reason they even covered that song was because the drummer claimed he could do the backing vocals to that. Also the best version of Map Of The Problematique is Glastonbury 2010 and then after that Wembley 2007.

Have you listened to the studio version? In all honesty I was a little disappointed with it when it first came out. The intro is amazing, but I feel like it never really builds on it - same 4-chord progression the entire song. Off the back of Origin and Absolution, and then having already heard Knights of Cydonia, which were all much more progressive in nature, it was a bit of a letdown. That being said they have mentioned that this song was built more around a particular sound they were trying to achieve, as opposed to the composition. That’s something much more obvious in the studio version.

@@scottanderson81 Yeah don’t get me wrong, I like it, and it did grow on me a lot since those first few listens. It was just relatively formulaic compared to everything that they’d done before. Of course since then their style has evolved massively anyway and I’ve come to appreciate how well they do almost any type of music. They were my absolute favourite band then and they’re still up there today.

I partly agree: the present voice is more mature, I think, and older songs sound better with his older, less educated (but still amazing) voice.
