Hey Lukas, I hope all is well with you today. While I don't know what kind of illness you are dealing with, I say a prayer for you regularly for God to heal you and make you whole again. Today's video is what we have been anticipating for a long time. Betsy looks good, sounds good and she's ready to haul the mail. You can tell it's been a labor of love for Nick. As excited as he was to make his goal for Betsy, we can only imagine the excitement you'll feel once Betsy is back home in Victoria and plugged into your truck. This is all for you Lukas, we appreciate you sharing your story with us. The gearhead nation is like no other, and it's because of people like you and Nick. By the way, there is a noticeable lack of George's timely commentary during the video. Is this because of the subject matter? Have you been drinking Australian tap water again? It doesn't seem like a proper " Nick's Garage video without your narration. #PaixAmourEtVoituresMusclées

With the Road Runner Cam the factory actually rated the 383 at 350 HP, they are the Young Hot Rodder's perfect Engine, Huge Bore with a pretty short stroke, only .070 more than a 273, so they liked to Rev, with the 906 heads they would equal the 440 by just revving it a bit higher. A 68 R.R., 383 H.P., 4 spd. with a pistol Grip and a Posi with 354's, life was good!

That intake is holding him back that intake is designed to make peak horsepower between 6, 000 and 7,000 RPM, the open polennium and short runner length is really holding back the torque curve between 3000 and 5,000 RPM. An Edelbrock performer RPM manifold would do wonders for the numbers, that and a super sucker spacer which is four holes tapered would really wake that engine up.

Hi Nick - great video as always. I worked at Harrison Radiator (GM, Delphi, Mahle) as a development engineer for 28 years. When we didn't want to add fittings for engine or trans sump temps, we would use a long RTD to replace the dipstick to measure the oil temp. Just match the length of the dipstick, seal the top with a piece of fuel hose and a clamp, and let 'er rip.

The family kept it and did not drive it. This car was better than show room condition. It only had 1092 miles on it . I was in shock ,it was so nice and I am from upstate New York. I like the Wilson 4 hole spacer. It’s worked well for the Engine Masters guys! Awesome job getting to 401 HP, and I think this was with iron heads. This is how we built them back in the day. 1 hp per cubic inch was pretty good back then, for a street engine. Of course there were guys who built better motors than that, but this build is pretty respectable!

That Weiand intake manifold has very big intake runners and works really good to way past 6000 rpm. An Edelbrock Torker or Tarantula manifold has narrower runners that I think would have worked much better in that motor's power range. A dual plane Performer type manifold would be best for a truck motor I'm sure, though, but probably wouldn't have gotten 400 hp out of it.
