Poirot/Agatha Christie adaptions very often attract an impressive cast, the most other recent adaption of this i'm aware of which came out on tv featured, Jessica Chastain, Toby Jones, Brian J Smith, David Morrissey, Hugh Bonneville, Elena Satine and of course playing possibly the most famous version of Poirot of all, David Suchet (who played the character between 1989 and 2013, with Peter Ustinov's 1978 - 88 run being a close second) :) . While the 1974 version of this featured Albert Finney as Poirot, Lauren Bacall, Ingrid Bergman, Jacqueline Bisset, Sean Connery, Anthony Perkins, Vanessa Redgrave, Richard Widmark and Michael York :) . www.imdb.com/title/tt1554113/ www.imdb.com/title/tt0071877/

@Brittany, there was a movie back in 1974: Murder on the Orient Express is a 1974 British mystery film directed by Sidney Lumet, produced by John Brabourne and Richard B. Goodwin, and based on the 1934 novel Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie.
Reminds me of high school English class when we read Clue and And Then there were None

for those who say this story is so well known and everyone knows what happens.... just read all the "inspired by clue"... "clue on a train" comments. as someone who has read all of Agatha Christie's novels and is such a fan.... I am so sad :(! Murder on the orient express is one of the best fiction murder mysteries ever written and the 1974 is a masterpiece, even the ITV Poirot series adaptation is very good. hopefully this movie will introduce a few others to the amazing world of Christie's books

Yeah this is a great example for trailers that doesn't spoil the movie's plot, yet is interesting thus making people want to see the movie. The music alone is good, but it really doesn't fit here. Like, at all. Honestly, who made this trailer?

Dimitra Panagiotakis Of course I know a lot of people know how the plot goes in this particular movie, it's a novel by Agatha Christie. I'm just saying that this is a great example on how to do a trailer without spoiling the plot. Not that anyone doesn't know the plot (by knowing the source material). Got my point?

@GayLatinoBear

Cj Khis Well to be fair, you only typed out a sentence as well, but if you insist: The drums and slight guitar plucks start the suspense, as our detective walks the music builds and builds, the beat drops at the right time of the trailer for us to be introduced to our main protagonist, and ends with a truth telling chorus of "Make me a Believer", which is a theme in every mystery from your Orient Expresses and Murder She Wrotes to your Encyclopedia Browns.

The Orient Express is a luxury train created by the French international company of sleeping cars, which since 1883 has been the link between Paris, Vienna, as well as Venice, from 1919, and Constantinople, serving several capitals of nations European. In the 1920s, with artists-decorators like Prou or René Lalique, the "Orient-Express" style reached its peak.

Teddy Wyman I totally agree but I was just sitting fangirling because I'm a huge fan of Agatha Christie's books and this one is my favorite
@Mari-hb5do
7 жыл бұрын
Teddy Wyman well for people who grew watching the series (myself for example) the tv series with David Suchet had a more classic tone that still evoked mystery into it which is what the series is about - mysterious crimes or occurrences that need a great mind such as the one of Poirot to find the culprit behind such intricate crimes. Considering it (the plot) was around the wwii (late 1930's - 1940's) the music genre and song itself does not quite fit in there. i got the message of the ' believer' riddle behind this but still the music was not fit for the trailer, for the main character's psychological profile or even the environment. if poirot was rolling around more recent decades perhaps it would fit better but during the 40's? it seems out of context and unfitting, because you didn't have at the time for sure this kind of music genre. or tone. its like putting two pieces of each different puzzles, trying to fit them with each other and no matter how much you try the side of the other won't attach to the other piece.

@Haquec

According to Wikipedia, the first African American physician, James McCune Smith, received his medical degree in 1837 - nearly 46 years before the Orient Express first left Paris. A black doctor in the befinning of the 20th century was still a rarity, but is hardly unrealistic. Poirto with hair however - well, that's a entirely different issue ;-)

Neither the original novel nor any previous adaptation had a black doctor. They had a white doctor called "Doctor Constantine", not a black doctor named Dr. Arbuthnot. They just included him as a diversity quota, so they wouldn't seem racist. because you know, the current year and such

I thought Johnny Depp was Poirot, but it would be interesting seeing Kenneth Branagh as one of the most iconic characters in the mystery genre.
THIS LOOKS SO GOOD. The music at the end doesn't fit the tone at all, though 😂😂 besides that, I can't wait for this to come out omg! 😍
I don't know how to feel about this: On one hand I do like the fact that they haven't totally forgotten about classics, and that they bring back life and even new wind into these classics, as they did with Sherlock. On the other hand I do have too much of respect for the original book and movies to be not concerned about the outcome of this adaptation. What changes will there be? Or will they stick to the original? Anyway, I am going to watch it. Even if it might be a disappointment, I would gladly ignore it just to see my good friend Poirot back in action.
