Hear me out. The culprit is Illidan. They went to the same literature school, but Denathrius was the better poet. So Illidan slayed him and stole his clothes. It's leather, so he had no problem equipping it. There. Case solved.

Hearthstone proves that the Shadowlands and its denizens were never really the problem, it was storytelling pitfalls regardless of setting.

Think its pretty clear Reno won officially.... seeing how Rafaam is now in the shadowlands. All the suspects (class legendaries) are characters who have died or are residents of the Shadowlands. Doesn't bode well for Rafaam.
