How is two old ladies not liking a mural a news story?

They need to rethink the corporate advertisements posted on bus stops and billboards with truly grotesque an tragic message! It’s a double standard for corporates!!!!😡

It looks angry for sure. arguing while being recorded because they think it promotes violence. What’s the irony in that?

Im a muralist, Ive always believed that art is whatever the onlooker wants it to mean. It is though provoking and unscripted. I know this artist's work and respect his neutral aesthetics. people need to chill and let art be art. If this painter only painted what people dictate he should paint, then it wouldnt be art anymore. It would just be another sign and LA already has too many signs. We need more culture in the streets. This mural is already doing its job, by getting neighbors to converse.

Rosarsach effect. Simple minded people will see odd imagery, get triggered etc. This is literally a method of determining if a person is borderline mentally ill. A normal person won't care/will see art. A borderline person will be triggered and "see bad things" --- this is a masterpiece 😅

It's doing what good art does and that is to make people think (people don't like that these days). I certainly don't see it as promoting violence in a community but I do see war monuments as doing such. This mural seems to be criticizing violence and the war monument glorifies it.

"Is just too dark in nature"... So they complain now about their nature?

That's the main point of art, to each individual has his/her/it's own interpretation.

For arts sake.. cry me a real problem. It’s a coffee shop.. art is inherently subjective. Go to another coffee shop if your so offended. Honestly.. what folks get their undies in a bundie over. Let me guess.. Retired? If you believe it only belongs in an art museum that’s a form of censorship. And to worry about the consequences of children seeing it? Are you actually serious? I’m confident those neighborhood children will not view the art the same way the old people do so why would you put your opinion and life prejudices of this art on those children? Sword or feather? Their worldview is likely unlike mine or yours. It’s already a successful art piece if it stirs controversy and promotes conversation. Artists have been provocateurs for a millennia .. the bland man prefers a white wall so he can be comfortable seeing what he can control under the guise of protecting children. Such a noble gesture and yet it’s Interesting he didn’t offer it to be painted over to purple or a rainbow. Kids do LOVE rainbows.

@ide1337myself you are correct... the feeling I got was a negative one afterwards. Now, the display was crafted beautifully. I just had a negative feeling upon reflection of this art. The community, the kids, and what's the hidden meaning here... to grab a knife? Or be wary of some attack? What's the message? it's feels sad to me for the children and the ones that live nearby.

I live in the area of this mural. There is violence coming from a certain group in an otherwise nice community. This mural raises the issue of violence in the community and encourages community members to present facts, truths and ideas for solutions. Hurt feelings or truths that one does not like to hear cannot be reasons to shut down speech and expression.

First the hipster coffee shops, then the public art, next thing you know they buy up your grandma's house with cash.

give it a few days and the gangbangers will have it covered with their own 'artwork'

Street art is an actual talent.. you might not like it but go give it a whirl and see.

Karen needs hush on black culture it's our history and it's just art . Kids have to worry about schools being a safe place right now their not even worried about that painting. Some folks don't like the truth on what's really going on.
