This spectacular route takes you through the heart of the Ciucaș Mountains, offering you stunning mountain scenery and a memorable cycling experience. The route is recommended for experienced riders in good physical condition due to the significant climbs and rough terrain.
Route details:
Cheia - Cheile Stanii (8 km, 300 m difference in level):
Starting from Cheia, you will follow the asphalted forest road towards Cabana Măgura.
After about 2 km, you will turn left onto a less traveled forest road leading to Cheile Stanii.
The easy climb continues through dense forest, offering superb panoramic views.
You reach Cheile Stanii, a spectacular area with steep limestone walls and lush vegetation.
Cheile Stanii - Cabana Ciucaș (7 km, 400 m difference in level):
From Cheile Stanii, the route becomes more difficult, with steeper climbs and rougher terrain.
You will pedal on a paved forest road, crossing the Valea Stanii stream.
The ascent continues to Ciucaș Hut, located at the foot of Ciucaș Peak (1952 m).
From the chalet, you can enjoy a spectacular panorama of the surrounding mountains.
Cabana Ciucaș - Cheia (10 km, 100 m difference in level):
The descent from Cabana Ciucaș is easier, but still demanding from a technical point of view.
You will follow a cobbled forest road with serpentines and areas with steep slopes.
The route descends through the fir forest, offering picturesque views of the valley.
Arrive back in Cheia, where you can enjoy a well-deserved rest.
Recommendations:
Make sure you have a mountain bike in good condition and proper mountain biking gear.
The trail can be covered on foot, but it is much more difficult and physically demanding.
