Munda Biddi Dreaming // An Ultra Cycling Record Film
Спорт
In November 2023 I embarked on a record attempt along the Worlds Longest Continuous Bike Trail, The Munda Biddi Trail in Australias South West.
1067km in length and with 14,000km of elevation, the weather couldn’t have been more challenging. The hottest November temperatures on record, I set off in 40’C heat and battled the elements for 60hrs. Snakes, kangaroos, wild dogs, spiders, bushfires and 80km/hr head winds, with just 17 minutes of sleep, I arrived at the finish line...
Following the ride, we visited roughly 5,000 children in schools along the trail in the remote South West to talk about the power of dreaming and the importance of exercise on our mental health.
The Munda Biddi Dreaming Project was proudly supported by:
OQEA, Alder Tapware, The Good Grocer, MBA Sports Coaching, Budget Rentals, Access Engineering Group, The Munda Biddi Trail Foundation, The Happiness Co Foundation, Resolute, WFR, West Cycle, The Bee Firm, Shire of Nannup and Wormall Civil.

You’re a legend Jack. I love that you stopped off at the local communities on your way back and inspired so many youngsters. I wish I had had an encounter like that when I was a youngster. I got into cycling in my mid 50’s and now at 63 am finding motivation to keep on pedalling from folks like you. Thank you. 👏🏽💪🏽👊🏽

Jack you’re truly inspirational. I have been waiting for over 5 months for this vid. I rode 20 km of the trail out of Walpole at Xmas and it was a great experience. To then visit the schools after was special. I could be wrong at 22:33 into the vid, was that a quick visit to the boys at Scotch College. If so, I’m sure that was special to you? Onwards to the next ride Jack. Thank you for sharing your life experiences with us! 👊

Hi Jack congratulations on your amazing journey. In your planning was it assessed that riding the trail North to South was the best option? Or was that guided by the previous record. Is your ride on Strava or Komoot. Good to see the Aussie pie was part of the nutrition plan, cheers

Thankyou! Logistically we just wanted to finish in Albany so we could then make our way back to Perth via the schools. I’m unsure which direction would have been more favourable with winds etc, but I did enjoy uncovering the different terrain as I moved south! I’ve got a corrupted Garmin file which were still trying to recover 😣 The dynamo hub seems to have overcooked the head unit somehow.
How did the aero rack workout? I have one but didn’t know if I should use it on my carbon frames? Thanks for clearing that up! Great video, good job!

@jackultracyclistofficial
23 күн бұрын
Cheers Brett. It’s unfortunate that the Garmin I was using died right towards the end of the ride and I had to revert to using the phone for nav. We believe it was due to the spikes and troughs of electricity from the dynamo over two days of riding. The Garmin inreach data was used to accurately validate the timing at the finish 🙌🏽

Riding the Munda Biddi is the purpose, no matter the speed…
This track represent a big waste of money by the department that created it I think it was DEC back then, they change their name every few years in an attempt to divert public backlash. I was working for them at the time And we ran a survey on Munda biddi trail use ...people use short sections of it on average, there are many many boggy sand sections that make it a horror over the entire distance, it was a monumental waste of money for the tax payers
@jackultracyclistofficial
14 күн бұрын
It’s a shame you think that. In my opinion the Munda Biddi is a world class facility that is drawing more and more tourism to the South West, not to mention an amazing offering for local walkers and riders alike. I support the trail and all that they wish to achieve 💪🏽🙏🏽
