Mumford & Sons live on KBCO radio
Lyrics:
I ran away in floods of shame
I'll never tell how close I came
As I cross the Holland road
You went left and I went right
As the moon hung proud and white
You would have loved it here tonight
Spin me round just to pin me down
On the cover of this strange bed
Spin me round just to pin me dowm
Roll out your questions keep them down
Let the water lead us home
And I was sorry for what I'd done
You were young I was not old
But our story was not told
But torn apart by greedy hands
Spin me round just to pin me down
On the cover of this strange bed
spin me round just to pin me down
Spin me round just to pin me down
I'll be gone by the nights end
Spin me round just to pin me down
But I'll be home in a little while
Lover I'll be home
And I'll be home in a little while
Lover I'll be home
And I'll be home in a little while
Lover I'll be home
And I'll be homw in a little while
Lover I'll be home

My son took his own life this past week right after he got out of the Marine Corps. This song is so therapeutic in the days before we fly his body home and bury him. I’m so glad I found this. He had a Mumford and sons Rolling Stone poster in his room in high school. 😭❤️

Anyone here remember TheFryersmuck? What a great guy. Sad to see him not on KZread anymore :( He really made Mumford and Sons a joy to listen to while reading his enlightening, funny, and sometimes sad stories. They were very thought provoking. I agree, and join you in all the wishes and thoughts. And here is Fryersmuck's comment on this song, now lost in a wasteland of others, so he stays in our memory and our hearts. "Home is where you can find me, when I am done and dusted, Thankful for another day, that my soul has not been busted, Though heavy rain has fallen on me, my heart has not rusted, Tomorrow will hopefully be the day, I get my head adjusted."

There's something about the first few cords that I find so comforting. I can't place why. Maybe it's the images of forests and fields that immediately spring to mind for whatever reason. Maybe it's the words that remind me of the folk music that always used to play in my grandfather's car. I don't know. It's just really nostalgic for some reason

As someone who plays, I feel every note a different way, what happens with me in the first few chords is that it brings a flood of emotions on at once. There's happiness, sadness, loss, hope, all with a few chords and notes. That's what makes music so beautiful; it makes us feel so much at once.

This song is so good, and it literally makes me cry every time I hear it, and THIS is the power of music, I don't think most people understand that music isn't just something to dance to or to listen to while you do your taxes. Every song has a hidden meaning behind it and every song is a story, the musicians story. I listen to music as frequently as I can, because I believe that it stimulates your brain and if you actually listen to the lyrics it's like hearing a story. This song is truly amazing.

What's so cool about the meaning behind songs like that is not only the musician story, is that everyone that listen to it, relate to differents things they have lived, so everyone has his own meanings for a song.

This song pulls terribly hard at my heartstrings. I love this band for that. Their music is just that real. They are the kind of band that can create music that gives you a giant comforting hug whenever you need it. I find myself closing my eyes and swaying while tapping my feet to the rhythm, but that's nothing compared to the lyrics. Ugh, I have nothing but good things to say about these guys. I think I speak for all of those die hard fans out there.
this why i absolutely LOVE Mumford & Sons, because they sing about things that actually matter. none of their songs are shallow and they all have meaning to them

I interpret this song as being about love and death. I think it's a about a man who lost his wife/girlfriend and as a result wanted to die too. "I ran away in floods of shame / I'll never tell how close I came" and "You went left and I went right / As the moon hung proud and white / You would have loved it here tonight" He met another woman while out, and slept with her ("spin me round just to pin me down of the cover of this strange bed"), almost got into a relationship with her but was riddled with guilt over thoughts of his dead lover, so he left her during the night, and thought of how much his deceased wife/girlfriend used to love to look up at the moon on a starry night with him. He didn't want to share that with anyone else. "You was young, I was not old / But our story was not told / But torn apart by greedy hands" Pretty self-explanatory. They were a young couple, in the prime of their lives when she died (probably the result of someone being reckless, e.g. drunk driver). "I'll be home in a little while / Lover, I'll be home" He either believes in an afterlife, or wants to believe in one, and he's planning on killing himself to be with her again. That's how I see it anyway.

They epitomize the true meaning of music, and I believe nobody is truely enlightened until they've sampled some of their music, other than the hits that play on the radio. This is just nostalgia made sound. Beautiful
Not a huge mumford and sons fan (on the whole) but this song holds a huge significance for me. X
December 20 , 2020 still here coming back home to Mumford 😉
I miss Mumford and Sons old stuff, pure quality!
I remeber when this was there new song, lately I haven't listened to this band and coming back to it makes me sorta feel like im coming home lol Mabey i will start to listen to Mr. Mumford agian haha their music is still as amazing as it was four years ago ^.^
The fact that this fan made lyric video for a song that was technically never released has more views than the official music video for The Cave will never not be funny

Well a year later proves that people really must like Mumford and Sons now. The Cave is double this
Watched them take us all to church in Manchester Arena last night 🇬🇧
Auguri e Grazie
makes me cry a bit
2018, and this is still not on Spotify! :(
I listened to this song on repeat when I came home from my two week Europe trip.
My old staffy Taz used to suffer with fits when he was a puppy he would cry and bite after a seizure I would sit cradling him with this song on he wouldn't cry he wouldn't bite he would just sleep. Taz passed away after around 2 years due to parvo I will always shed a tear or two when I listen to this song 💙💙 r.i.p Taz we miss you
