I love the quirkiness that Mumei tends to bring to her singing streams, random note changes, accents, spoken lines and on top her singing voice at times ranges from good to perfectly fitting the song. it's always a fun mixed bag with her.

IMO, when it comes to singing, what I appreciate more than just raw voice talent is individual quirks and uniqueness. There could be 2 singers singing the same song, one clearly superior in terms of skill and quality of voice, and the other being not as great but uses more individual quirkiness and confidence, and I could easily prefer the second person.

Absolutely. It was obvious even in her debut that she had a great voice but that confidence/embarrassment was the main issue. I haven't heard any of her singing since then and the difference since then is huge.

During her first karaoke stream, which was unannounced and at like 1am (eastern, usa) everyone was so stunned and amazed and Mumei was trending #1 on Twitter and had 30K + viewers

Mumei has grown so much. She really opened her voice. She said her parents didn't support her much about this in the past. It's nice to know she returned to this and feels really happy singing, you can tell.

Holy moly, i was NOT expecting this from our forgorful owl. It's like her voice just shifted gears into something made for singing.

Oh wow, I'm so glad this video is blowing up and is gaining a lot more attention now. I remember watching this live around 4 months ago and if I recall this was the main highlight during that Mumei's unarchived karaoke stream. Mumei nail Beat It perfectly and she sang it like she owned the song. I remember was vibing to this too. Right after this unarchived karaoke stream ended, I was insanely hook to this and was waiting for someone to upload Mumei singing this song as it would a pity if we wouldn't have seen this talent of hers, and is how I come across this video 4 months ago. However, back then when I first saw it, this video was only around 100 views! Never thought it blow up this much! Thanks, HoloTofu for keeping and sharing this for us.
