Nice work Captain. But you forgot to tell us the Donna Paula story. I happened to visit that quiet hamlet on the beach about 15 years ago and wrote about the ghostly legend. It is my version... The Legend of Donna Paulo About twelve years ago, I visited South India. We spent Christmas with my wife’s parents and then end of December caught a train to Goa. The trip itself was harrowing. We had no confirmed seats so roughed it out for most of the journey. Towards the end of the trip, we managed to get a couple of berths, but what was the point now? We had reached Murdgao, and Vasco da Gamma was a short train ride away. After getting off at the station, we caught a rented van to our hotel in Mapusa: Braganza Hotel. Mapusa was crowded and polluted. We decided to see Old Goa, and of course visited the old churches, especially where St. Francis Xavier’s body lies in a golden/glass coffin. Next day we took a local bus to a lazy seaside locale called Donna Paulo. The very name fired my imagination. What could this little seaside hamlet have in store for us? Well, I love the sea, and this is the main reason I wanted to visit. The bus dropped us off at an intersection and from here, we proceed to walk down some narrow twisting lane. It brought us to a seaside restaurant. We stopped here to rest our weary legs and ordered a simple meal. What a fabulous view of the Donna Paulo beach from one of the windows! An anchored yacht lay a few meters offshore, gently rocking in the swells of the Arabian Sea. After lunch, we headed down to the beach. The sea was calm, small gentle waves broke upon the grey sandy beach. Shells were everywhere, and we picked up handfuls. A rocky promenade jutted out to the sea, a natural breakwater. This is where we headed to next. But before I go there, here is the legend of Donna Paulo... Donna Paulo was a young woman, daughter of the Portuguese Viceroy Dona Paulo De Menezes of Goa. No doubt she came from a very affluent and wealthy family. She had fallen deeply in love with the son of a local fisherman in the village. At that time the village was known as Oddavell. When her father came to know of this, he forbade her to ever see the young man again, the relationship must end, he told her. So overcome by grief and the realization that she would never be able to see her lover again, Donna decided to end her misery and drowned herself at the local beach. . When her father heard the news, he himself was overcome with grief and remorse. He renamed the village Donna Paulo. She is said to be buried at the Governor’s House nearby. Her ghost is also said to reappear out of the water each year at the same time, wearing a pearl necklace. Now although this is just a mythical legend, Donna Paulo actually was a real person, the daughter of the Viceroy. She did a lot of charitable work, helping the poor locals better their life. Thank you so much bro, Stay Connected! If you take the Pune route thru Kolhapur highway the roads are great! But if you go thru the Konkan route, then it gets rough. Hope you and your pillion have fun brother, ride safe, stay safe and stay away from suspicious looking 'salesmen' in Goa. Friendly warning! Love ❤

This was a crazy route. The wildlife sanctuary roads are full of potholes so make sure to not speed because they appear out of nowhere. Otherwise the route is brilliant. Very very beautiful! Ride hard ride safe! ❤️
