If the mother wanted an appointment, she could have made her own following her daughter's or at a different time. She's so entitled and self-absorbed she didn't even have remorse for her choice to steal the dress and the appointment until she realized by everyone's disapproval how her image looked. @Twicexxiii It wasn’t an apology. Her, “Sorry,” was laced with phrases like, “I didn’t think it would bother you so much,” and, “I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings,” which actively works against any apology she would’ve given. It places the blame on the person who was hurt over the person who caused the pain, and, honestly, I don’t think her mom believes she did anything wrong. An apology is meaningless when you follow it up with, “I didn’t think it would bother you so much.”

And the rest was selfish, I agree but it was selfish in a way where she was thinking of herself as a friend(a bad one) rather than a mother. She made self-centered and uncalled for comments but it wasn't meant to hurt anyone and once she realized her mistake she corrected her behavior.
