I have a fun cub - the flaps need to go to 90 degrees to get the full barn door effect. Set up properly, you can call landing with it 200 foot above your head, drop vertically and land 6 foot in front of yourself 10 seconds later

This type of video is REALLY unique in R/C youtube. I can name 10 channels that review the exact same aircraft every month and it's boring me to death, but this video is different. I like the "personal" approach to the nuances, quirks and history of a classic model. Video format is great too.. You guys need to do a series with classic foamies.

Reminds me of the dynam primo. I’ve had that dang plane for over 3 years and have crashed it almost 40 times, including 4 times in the drink... but she is still flying. A lot of repairs, but still flying

It's my fav plane. Just got the new NG version a couple weeks back direct from Austria. Price wasn't bad at all, had to wait a month for the Kit though. MrMPX has them stateside for $175. I hope Multiplex keeps this one around. I put an Aura in mine and it flies incredibly in the right hands(not mine).

Plain and simple fellas...In my opinion the Fun Cub is still the best electric bush/sport plane ever. There are many like it...Timbers, Big Foots, Tundras, etc., and they are all very good, but nothing matches a Fun Cub. Still. That alone is pretty amazing. Great video...great edit!

Thanks! 😀We couldn’t agree more. Hold onto any OG FunCub you can get! No one has made a mass production park flyer sized STOL plane at or near the same wing loading and overall flying weight since.

Multiplex foam is so much better than run of the mill planes, and way more tough than eFlite stuff.

Geez it’s been that long??? Mine still is in the box buried in my basement together with the Gemini, Cularis and 1 Solius, i lost my OG solius in the woods😂.even my Acromaster OG is just half way build🤦🏻‍♂️..need to go back to rc flying this work and family life is making me a zombie..😫

My favourite plane by a mile😋 I pretty much learnt to fly with my 1st cub until it got to the point where there was more glue than foam😆 ... so what do you do then?? Go out and buy another of course👍 this one still going, running on 4s setup with no crashes after 6 years but I also have 2 new in box funcub kits in my hanger just incase🤣🤣..I also got the NG which I have yet to try hopefully it will be just as much FUN😆👍

I still have a new one here waiting for me to finish it hahaha!

hehe in germany you can get used OG funcubs for under 100€. New ones are about 200€

lol... Climbing a tree to rescue a FunCub. We all know how that feels!!

Thanks to this Video I bought myself a OG Funcub for 15€. Just have to find a motor for it.

What model available today, would you say, comes closest to the Fun Cub in flight characteristics? Thanks. Ps. My UMX Turbo Timber, I believe, has so some of the same characteristics but on a smaller scale.

For overall floatiness and feel, the only thing that comes close nowadays is the Flex Innovations 170.

@planes and simple Good question - we haven’t tried one yet. On paper, it’s not quite the same thing. For reference, the wing cube loading on the OG FunCub is 4.2 whereas the NG FunCub is 5.1. It’s 8-10 oz heavier. Would be awesome to test fly one!

I have flown the OG but not the Ng. I know someone with one so I'll have a flight and see.

To him it’s just a basher. Bashers break things just for fun. You can as well rip your dollar notes in little pieces. Does practically the same.

Bruh I just bought my FunCub, but the park 480 motor you recommended doesn't mount to the firewall. Not a single screw hole lines up. How on earth did you mount it?

I generally either made my own motor mount out of plywood coated in 30 min epoxy using the stock motor mount as a template, or ordered after-market motor mounts online. Ebay is a good place to start.

Love the work you guys do. Have you tried the funcub ng yet id like to know your thoughts and how it compares to the original. Ive just set mine up for pan tilt fpv with inav. Keep up the great work cheers

The Timber X and Night Timber X weigh nearly twice the weight of the Fun Cub. The Timber X also has less wing area than the Fun Cub, too: the wing cube loading is through the roof in comparison. We donated our Timber X to a kid at our local RC club after owning it for two weeks - it was simply too heavy. Light planes always fly better. Does the Timber X fly harder 3D? 100%. The Fun Cub wasn't even designed for that. However, the Fun Cub will always beat anything else out there in purpose-built-STOL for the lowest wing loading and most capable plane of its size to fly in tight spaces for that reason.

That poor plane....

Now that I know this about the fun cub, I now realize how lucky I was to get one for free in 2019!

The fun cub ng is between $375-$415 in the US right now…I think you might have a direct influence on the price markup lol
