    I changed mine on my Guilietta multiair 170 at 75k and it only had a tiny bit of dirt wasn't worth doing. However the plastic mesh has the potential to become brittle so I was glad to have done it. I think you are getting carried away with how frequently it needs to be done just do it evey 75k or 8 years , but change your oil every 6 months like I do.

    green grass How long have you owned the car? I guarantee the MA filter was changed by previous owner. It filters the same oil as the standard oil filter and thats changed every service. As the multiair unit is so tempremental its worth cleaning every service as your doing the rest anyway, for the sake of 10mins its better to be safe than sorry. its recommended to change MA filter every 35,000 miles cleaning regularly inbetween to reduce likely hood of MA failure. Looking on forums i've seen some pretty shockingly dirty MA filters. Regarding the 'getting carried away' comment... Some would say the same to changing your oil every 6 months. A service is recommended once a year given the annual average mileage to be 12k mpy. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    @@Drivewaybuildz I do lots of short journeys to work 3 miles each way ,thats why I change it every 6 months. It also runs at its best that way like any engine. There is no recommendation on changing that filter it says nothing in the service book its ment to be a permanent installation. It filters the clean oil that has already been through the main filter so its not got a lot of work to do , its there as a precaution. The multiair isn't known as being temperamental, some of the early pre 2015 units have been known to fail, but i would suggest failure is due to the ridiculously long service intervals , about 18k or 2 years , something like that. Also plenty of smart arses like to put the oil they favour the most to into the engine which is usually wrong. It takes a very specific oil and it has to be right and meet the exact specification number. Its also an expensive little filter , about 35 squid if I remember.

    Multiair is ok engine. I got my alfa from alfa forum. So i know older owners. 150.000 now with orginal multiair filter. I think eber helps with oil because there is cold during winter (Finland). But oil change intervall has been 10.000km. Once 30.000km. Castrol magnetic, selenia 5-40w and mobil 0-40w. Now liquild moly 5-40 in. After 6000km there is going to be Time to change water pump etc, changin filter also there.

    The short shifter is a simple but teadious job to do. Remove battery and tray and swap the linkage over. The old linkage is normally stuck on and takes a while to get off, over all easy enough. My car is doing ok with the mileage, 85K ish. Its looked after and serviced regular. 👍

    hi! if I change the filter in multiair system could solve the problem of the machine that "jumps" when it is cold? the oil going to the module is not already filtered by the oil filter?

  • @Drivewaybuildz

    @Drivewaybuildz

    4 жыл бұрын

    horror mask The oil is already filtered by the oil filter, This filter is just to further filter the oil into the multiair as its very sensitive. As for the 'jumping' when its cold, I would not think this would cure this symptom. However it may be worth reviewing the oil you are using. only 5w 40 is recommended for the multiair system. Many are now using Castrol edge(ACEA C3). just ensure it is a reputable brand. I personally use Millers race oil. If you oil is not the culpret it maybe worth getting your multiair system checked by a professional. Do you have any engine codes coming up to do with misfire?

    @@Drivewaybuildz I use SELENIA K PURE ENERGY MULTIAIR 5W40 ACEA C3 oil. as an error I have P0300 and P0301. the machine is fine but when I turn on the heating fan it goes wrong for 1 second! only when I turn on the heating fan!

  • @Drivewaybuildz

    @Drivewaybuildz

    4 жыл бұрын

    horror mask that code is related to misfire. more likely to be spark plugs or coil packs. the code for multiair issues is normally P1061 (cylinder 1) P1062 (cylinder 2 ) and so fourth. selenia oil has recently been proven to actually be bad for the multiair unit leaving more deposits than normal oil. i would recommend checking your spark plugs to see if they are the issue. 2nd i would change coil packs 1 and 2 with 3 and 4. see if the codes then change to cylinder 3 and 4 then its your coil packs. check these 1st and go from there. it could be multiair failure but start with the cheaper items to replace first. hope this helps.

    @@Drivewaybuildz Dealers only care to earn money. When i bought my used guilletta multiair with 109.000km i didn't trust the services the previous owner did. For example the coolant replacement. It was red.I doubt coolant replacement had been before the car came to my hands. My mechanic imports Ravenol products which are top quality. So he checked the catalogue to make sure what's the proper for my car and it was G11 (shinny yellowish). We replace it along with the liquid bottle because i found it tearing a little bit on top. After 2 weeks on the new bottle i saw rust. I figure out that the new coolant as it circulates cleaned in some percentage the engines ... Im forgetting the word now. So we clean the bottle from the rust and refill it with fresh coolant from my spare bottle.
