Just an FYI I accidentally broke the regs in this video. Treble hooks are not allowed in the Finger Lakes Tributaries below the first impassible barrier. Treble hooks are legal in the Erie Tribs where I am from so I didn't think anything of it. Next time I fish the gorge I'll outfit my spoons and kiwkifish with a single hook. Just wanted to be clear here in the comments, don't want to get anybody in trouble. I'm sure they strictly enforce the tackle restrictions when the trout and salmon start running from the Lake.

Yes, except from the rail road bridge down the to lake in Fall Creek, then it is open to different methods. From the bridge up and to the first impassible barrier in other tribs, you can only use single hooks with a gap no greater than 1/2 inch as well. Cool video.

I spent a lot of summers in Ithaca, have family there. I have fished all around that area. There's a creek called six Mile Creek and that is packed with trout and smallmouth bass. There's a place called Potter's falls where I've caught a lot of fish there. There's also another Creek I like called cascadilla Creek. It's a loaded with Creek chub.... Fall fish or whatever you call them..... Some of them can get pretty big in that Creek and there are a lot of fun to catch

This is my favorite place to fish! Go there a few times a year since my brother goes to Cornell. Spend hours just catching all the different species in there!

One of the most enjoyable places I've ever fished, gorgeous down there and lots of different species! Didn't get the impression that anything huge was in there but still a lot of fun, those little smallmouth in there fought supper hard!

Fall creek comes a long way before it hits the lake and it's pretty good fishing the whole way. Next time start in cortland and head toward ithaca. Also, was that a treble on your first lure? I'm not sure, but I think they are restricted on fall creek.

Mike Henry thanks for the heads up. I just checked the regs, looks like your not allowed to use treble hooks in that particular section of fall creek. I honestly didn’t think anything of it, treble hooks on floating lures (like the flatfish/kwikfish) are allowed on all the Great Lakes tributaries. It is possible to rig the lures with a single hook on a bead chain (which is illegal in most of the Great Lakes tribs but looks like it would be legal in the FL tribs). One of these years hopefully I can spend a couple days in Ithaca area and explore more of the tributaries like Fall Creek. Fish weren’t really running yet when I was there, this was filmed in September.

Yes, you're restricted to a single hook on the Finger lakes tributaries up to the first impassable barrier. So trebles are okay on Fall Creek past Ithaca Falls, and on Six Mile Creek upstream from first dam.

Do you know if fishing is good in Ithaca right on 6 mile creek? Does trout season start April 1st?

Know exactly where those spots are. The last one is getting over-fished, and too many people are keeping them. I use 2 lb or 4 lb with an ultra-light rig when I'm there. It's a fun spot to just hang out. Please do us local anglers a favor and remove the specific location references you've got in your description. Ithaca Falls is well-known, the other is less well known even though it's a rather obvious place to look if you're an angler. It's the folks who show up with a bucket and take home every fish - dinks or not - that deplete the creek. Thanks!

Being from the area a lot of y'all making these videos need to learn how to properly release these fish. "Especially" the trout. A lot of those trout probably didn't make it. Learn to release the fish quickly and keep em in the water.
