Multi Panel Prints in Qimage One

Ғылым және технология

Qimage One 2023 includes a new feature called Multi Panel Prints. This feature lets you print an image to any size you would like by defining multiple panels which align to generate a large print. You can define the size and number of panels, including a gap. This is helpful if you are trying to print a larger image to fit within a window frame. Don't be restricted by your printer's maximum paper size any longer - think big!
Mike Chaney demonstrates how to align panels printed using Qimage's Multi Panel Print feature.

Thank you for this vid. I own an older version of Qimage Ultimate but have been thinking of doing a multi panel photo print like this to get a larger photo without outsourcing the print. I use a Canon Pro 100 which leaves a little un printed boarder by default. Any suggestions on how to handle this? Of note, I have printed borderless before on the Pro 100 from Affinity Photo by accident before but it can make the printer messy by leaving ink marks on the back of the next photo or two. = Not desired. Thank you for any replies.

If you don't want to go the borderless route, which I understand, then you would just need a good paper trimmer. As shown in the video, one of the options in Multi Panel Print is to break the image apart into panels which are the page size for your media. This maximizes how much is printed on each sheet. Then you just need to trim each sheet and assemble them together. One use of the gap value in Multi Panel Print is if you do this, you can set a small negative gap. That way, even if you cut a little more that just the white margins away, you will have some overlap in the data that gets printed on each panel. This can make it easier to assemble the panels together rather then just having them butt up against one another.

@@Binartem Thank you. I might try a presentation with a gap between each photo first & then with them joined together & see which is gives the best overall look. Thank you for the reply.

Thanks for these valuable videos! I watch Jose's videos as well. I still do not understand the relationship between Media Type, ICC profiles, and/or printer properties. I ordered some LYVE MATTE CANVAS and installed the ICC profile for that canvas. But the media type drop-down does not reflect this new canvas. So, should I do something with the properties window of my P-1000? Should I just select "canvas" in the media type field? It is all so confusing between ICC Profiles/Media Type/Printer Properties. I looked under your videos and Jose's videos too and am not seeing something that helps us understand the relationship between these three settings.

A GUI suggestion for the program: Add three buttons to the window that have just a question mark on them (20x20 pixels). Put each button by the Media Type, ICC Profile, and Printer Properties fields/buttons. Pop up a single window (easier to code) that describe the steps we should take to install a new brand of paper or canvas. Since you are dealing with two different operating systems, copy and paste the text and modify for its respective OS. This would really help us out from having to dig around for answers. It would be very invaluable for new users, or like myself coming back to it after being gone for two years. Please consider this!

Qimage One communicates with the driver to retrieve the supported media types, etc. When you use a third party media (not from the printer manufacturer) there are usually two options. 1) The media provider will tell you to use an equivalent media type already defined in the driver, or 2) You can modify the driver to include the new media type by use of a tool provided by the printer manufacturer. For example, For example, for Canon: support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART172453 and for Epson: files.support.epson.com/docid/cpd5/cpd58368/source/pro_graphics/source/media_loading/tasks/scp7570_9570/adding_custom_paper_media_installer_scp7570_9570.html.

@@RobertHopkinsArt this is a specialized function which is not controlled by Qimage One, so modifying the GUI would not make sense in this situation. Using a custom media involves modifying the driver, or selecting an equivalent media type, as described in my other comment.

Yes, Qimage One is fully compatible with Apple chips. The latest Qimage One has been tested up to and including macOS 14 Sonoma (Beta) and Photoshop 24.6 (Beta). If you have updated macOS you will need to find and install new drivers. You may also need to reset the printer settings in Qimage One. And if you have updated Photoshop you should reinstall Qimage One again to install the Qimage One Adobe plug-ins.
