Mukul Kulkarni is a senior disciple of the late Pt. Sharad Sathe and Pt. Arun Kashalkar. He performed for the third chapter of the First Edition Arts-curated Synergy series held at the Bangalore International Centre. This concert was entitled "Reflections - Celebrating A Musical Journey with My Gurus", where Mukul sang compositions he learnt from his gurus.
Mukul began his recital with two bandishes and a tarana in Raag Purvi. He opened with "Charan Paarasat" (Tilwada), a composition that he learnt from the late Pt. Sharad Sathe and concluded with "Saawre Man Laage" in teentaal followed by a Drut Tarana, both composed by the great Pt. Arolkarbuwa.
He was accompanied by Sagar Bharatraj on tabla and Vyasmurthi Katti on harmonium. Tanpura support was provided by Sarang Phagre and Mayur Sakri.

Excellent rendering Mukul ji. Each of our Ragas have a unique personality, a mind of their own, a character of their own. Purvi's character is that of being serious, sombre, languid, meandering. You have brought out all those aspects wonderfully well. And both the accompanying artistes have did their mite to help you achieve your aim. Kudos to them. In this age of showmanship, playing to the gallery, this performance stands out as a contrast. Congratulations and best wishes.
