Jinnah and his father's family were staying at Moti Paneli ,80 kms from Porbunder. There were in the fishing business which was abhored by the Kutchi Lohana community. They had an office in London. Because of the taunts from this Hindu community they became Muslims. Their original surname is Thakkar. Jinnah means youngest child.

@@sanjaydoshi7968 The Jinnah family was being discriminated against and converting to Islam was a way for them to avoid persecution. Shia Islam was very conducive their livelihood.

His wife's name wasn't Ratna Bai but it was 'Ratan Bai'. He belonged to 'Thhakkar - Lohana' caste. His Jinnah House is still there in Bombay.

I think Jinnah was just an agent of British Empire. British Empire was also in the favour of making Pakistan, therefore they selected Jinnah to fulfill their mission to split the muslims of India and Afghanistan.

Reason ? In 2018 our ex-president Mr Kovind was denied entry to the inner sanctrum of Jagannath temple. Him being a Dalit. On the other hand , a Dalit or any Non-Muslim once he accepts islamic faith can enter and stand in the front rows, shoulder to shoulder with other Muslims and after gaining enough knowledge can even become 'imam' and lead the prayers.and share the food with them in the same plate.

Maa-shaa-Allah! My ancestors also accepted Islam. I have great respect for my ancestors who were Hindus. Hinduism is the oldest religion, thus it deserves respect. Sadly like Hinduism, currently traditional Islam also lost their universal aspects and became among the ritualistic dependent religions. As far as I have learned about Hinduism, Hinduism is a way of life, the same as Islam is a Deen aka a way of life. Neither Hinduism or Islam you can put inside a box, which unfortunately current followers of these both religions have done and fought with each other for no reason. If we go back to our Deen Islam then we will see that Allah has said clearly that He did not send these religions, they are all man-made. Deen and religion are not the same thing. Deen shows virtues and principles, while religion is based on empty rituals. You get rid of these man-made rituals, you will find the universal laws in Islam and Hinduism. The more we go back to our original divine text, the more we will find unity among mankind. We are one humanity with our own tradition and heritage. Every household has and will develop its own traditions and heritage for personal convenience. You don't fight it, but need to respect it. Better learn from each others' traditions and heritage to develop a better tradition for your own family and community. This is how we can grow together. If we think our tradition and heritage is the best, then how we are going to learn from others, and grow together? That is not true. As per Dawn( the newspaper founded by Jinnah ) , Jinnah's father was forced to convert to Islam because he was unable to repay a loan taken from a Muslim moneylender. The rest of Jinnah's family continue to be Hindus to this day, and have remained in India. His daughter, of course, was brought up a Zoroastrian by her Parsi grandfather, Sir Dinshaw Petit, and married a Parsi herself. Her son is Nusli Wadia, the industrialist.

It doesn't matter Jinnah family had Hindu backround or Bhuddist background Entire Indian Subcontinent followed Hinduism & Buddhism for years together Arab & Persian invaders & business men brought Islam to India. Europian Sailors & Britishers brought Christisnity into India. As an Indian, I feel Partition of India was unfortunate & proven wrong. However, there is no point in discussing pre 1947 stories We don't want united India again. What we want is that SAARC countries should settle the border issues & come out with a plan of Visa free travel like in Europe

It doesn't matter what someone's lineage or whose son or grandson or descendant you are, even what your ethnicity is. As long as you believe in oneness of Allah and take his last messenger (peace be upon him) s your prophet you are Muslim. Prophet Ibrahim's(peace be Upon him) father was an idol worshiper yet he became a Prophet. So if somebody tells you that your ancestor were Hindu or whatever is irrelevant. You are free to choose what religion you want. But NEVER FORCE anyone your ideas or beliefs.

@@shriharikulkarni2305 Astaghfirullah. The prophet's parents were masoom. They lived in a period of Jahiliyah. I've read that such people will be tested by Allah on the Day of Judgement. Where Allah will show them a fire. And to pass the test, they'll have to jump in that fire. And then they'll get Paradise.
