Save and just get Naxos, one thing I would do different if I could start my frag journey again is just get a few of the best fragrances rather than wasting just as much money on many cheaper fragrances.

You probably wouldn't enjoy the really good ones as much as you do rn though. I'm slowly transitioning from (imo) way too many good designers to a small amount of really amazing niche fragrances and it's a real pleasure.

@@catex5452 True. Either way, your going to want to explore the other party. I started from the bottom (cheapies), to designer, to higher end designer, to exploring niche. The proper way to grow imo.

I agree 100% I have so many designers over 85 bottles and heaps of back ups / 200 ml bottles of stuff that I will never get through as I always wear my niche stuff most of the time & I just get 5 ml samples now . I wish I didn’t buy all those cheap designers they are not getting used .

I bought Naxos today. I got chatting to another fraghead in Harrods and he said about this. I was absolutely blown away by it. I went back to my car, just sitting there thinking about it. I got out my car and returned to the shop to buy it. Its an absolutely gorgeous scent that is extremely well blended together. My first from this house and it certainly does not disappoint.

naxos is one of my all time favorites. absolutely unisex slightly powdery, citrus levander scent. i love it so much

Excellent comparison. Spot on. I have been in perfumery since I was 13. I’m now 60. Tobacco has been by far my most favorite note ever. I currently own and actively use Naxos, which I consider a gem. I also own over 50 tobacco perfumes, all niche. Before becoming a niche snub, I had also purchased many designer tobacco perfumes over the years, including TM Pure Havane. They are both fabulous perfumes. I love them both. But I have to say, I don’t consider Naxos to be a tobacco perfume, but a honey perfume. To me, Naxos is a honey perfume with tobacco flavor, whereas TM Pure Havane is a tobacco perfume with a honey flavor. The cherry dimension pulls Pure Havane further away from Naxos. Simultaneously, the lavender dimension in Naxos makes their separation even greater. And definitely, as you accurately stated, Naxos is more sophisticated, elegant, and deep, which makes it better to wear for more formal activities, whereas PM is more informal and easier to reach for day-to-day wear. So, I’m not sure why people compare them to the point of almost making both perfumes sound as interchangeable, except to say that they both share tobacco and honey as a commonality. But the proportions of these two notes in their blends are notably different to me , further aggravated by the differences i mention above. In short, buy both…one for informal wear and other for formal wear.

Great VS, Chris!!!! I'm yet to try Pure Havane so I must give it a try. Naxos is a beauty! Got 2 Xerjoff samples and love it!!!! Also the Alexandria clone is quite similar but defo Naxos exudes more elegance, refinement, and quality! Happy Easter!!!

I appreciate people like clones because they can't/won't for a premium product which is completely fine either way. But I think Naxos is a winner here. Its so complex and rich while staying fresh off the top.

since pure havane was launched before naxos, it would make naxos the clone in this situation plus given the sent profile I'd call naxos a flanker more than a clone, it's cherry honey tobacco vs citrus honey tobacco tobaco

Received my bottle of Naxos yesterday. It was a blind purchase and worth every penny. First of all the packaging screams luxury. I felt like I was unboxing a brick of gold. The scent is just legendary and a must buy. The performance is amazing as well. So freaking good!

I find them not similar at all in any term. Naxos is way more better in any term, exclude in price point.

Recently purchased a sample of Pure Havane and loved it, think I’ve gotta get a bottle! Great video Chris!

Just purchased Mugler Pure Havane for the first time will have to wait a week to get it I do have two bottles of Mugler pure Malt so all set, keep them coming your my favorite to watch thank you.

Cool comparison Chris . 👏 I have a full Bottle of Naxos and I've had a Decant of Pure Havane , I Don't find them that similar personally and Pure Havane had average projection and longevity on my skin . Naxos however projects and lasts like a Beast on my skin !! I like Pure Havane but love Naxos and I agree with you that they're different enough to own both . 👍

Got a 5ml sample of Naxos which made me realise how superior it is to my bottle of Pure Havane... I'm going to make the leap and buy Naxos, it's worth every penny.

@@michaelreynol8 yes mate, It outperforms Pure Havane by a good 5 hours on my skin. And the sample obviously doesn't distribute as much juice as the real bottles so I've no doubt in my mind that the stuff is beast mode... Just the sample with 4 sprays lasted me all day and in to the evening. Try a sample, you will not be disappointed... You will notice how superior the ingredients are.

xerjoff is an incredible house. Probably the best one out there for my nose :p nio, Alexandria ii, naxos, Renaissance, irisss, erba pura, the list goes on and on... Really amazing house!

I like Naxos, I respect it...but there's something about Pure Havane that is endearing and triggers my nostalgia. It's comforting with it's gaudy and overdone charm. The bottle is tacky, the smell is almost tacky as well- but that's what I love about it

I feel fortunate to have both of these in my collection, a really deep and extensive comparison. I definitely think there is room for both in my world.

Slept on Pure Havane for too long, but finally pulled the trigger last week. And I got the Thierry Mugler 2014 version, very portent. So overall, I'm happy with my purchase. Paying double the price to get an old batch of Pure Havane makes no sense

Rocking Naxos this Morning. Very luxury fragrance. Xmas present from the Wife🙂

Having watched this and Aaron do his review I wonder if a comparison with tobacco vanille is worth the shout?

Stuff it, I deleted my initial comment it was too long and pretty much what you said as I own both, so agree with your closing comments. Great comparison video for two great fragrances!

Chris: What would you recommend between Naxos and Herod?

no comparison, Naxos smells so much more natural to me, that tobacco leaf with the citrus is beautiful. Pure Havane is sticky and overly sweet cherry bomb on my skin that gets annoying after 15mins usually. I get better longevity with Naxos too

Glad someone is talking about this. Pure havane and naxos are the same fragrance. PH is superior value and the tobacco is so rich in PH. Like walking around in a cloud of Cuban cigars.

Excellent Video. Actually I have a 10ml decant of Naxos, and then I bought Pure Havane one month later, and the difference is huge, night and day. I can't understand how, many people are saying these 2 perfumes are similar or even close. PH opens up with a harsh alcoholic synthetic horribly dirty smell, which fades away to a weird tobacco scent in the dry down. Naxos is an incredible high quality tobacco scent with a wonderful opening and dry down, where tobacco is the star.

Love Pure Havane fantastic if your not a frag connoisseur then the Mugler will be refreshing to the senses.The fact its affordable is even better most people who aren't in this community mainly by fragrances based on commercial promotion I.e marketing or from direct influence e.g parents or siblings.Hence the proliferation of blue fragrances or barbershop scents

I am a female who wears Naxos. I like it because it smells like my husband when he gets out of the shower. It is beautiful.

Xerjoff is my favorite perfume house!

If something performs better, I will chose that. If people think “skin scents” are worth >£100 they’re mad. Pure havane gets better the longer you wear it in my opinion. The opening is too strong and much too sweet for me. After around 4 hours I really enjoy it! Definitely a 2 spray max kind of scent!

I truly love pure havane, but went for Naxos recently and .... wow. Love them both for different reasons. PH so comforting, but Naxos so refined and complex (and fresher). On the tobacco theme also got triumph of Bacchus too .... Which... Well... BLOODY HELL it's good!!!

Another inexpensive option is Reyane Tradition Insurrection II Wild. Smells like Pure Havane and under $30 USD. Might do if one cant find the Mugler Pure havane.

Finally got a reply from Loreal, after a week. Pure Havane and Pure Malt have both been discontinued. Someone may want to let George know.

Wrong. I tested them both at the same time and I preferred Pure Havane.

How does ATH Boss Bastard compare to these two? The note breakdown is similar, i just smelled ath boss bastard until now and for me its mainly honey tobacco after the opening.

Out of 50-60 bottles/decants that I have owned till date (which is not a very big number from a collector point of view), Naxos has been consistently unbeatable in all aspects. Coincidentally, it is also the fragrance that has gotten me atleast 1 compliment/comment every time I have worn it. Great video 💯

I love pure havane. I paid $99 CAD at full retail and regret not buying their whole inventory. But at this stage with all the price gouging, just save your money and buy Naxos. Lol

I bought 1981x before I smelled Naxos... the tobacco note in it is more subtle, but I feel like that's with most AF fragrances... their tobacco note isn't in your face... I get a lot of honey and vanilla from it. A lot of people around me have liked it so not ready to spend up on Naxos, even though Xerjoff is one of my fav niche houses. Maybe if there's a big sale

Does Naxos have any similarities to Penhaligons roaring Radcliffe?

Is Naxos that good? I’ve watched lots of reviews, but some say it’s really just honey and vanilla and hardly any tobacco? I’m about to pull the trigger for £170 - Any thoughts would be welcome 🙏 FYI - I already have Tobacco Vanille, would this be too similar to Naxos and thus not worth the purchase?

I actually don't like Pure Havane at all, so when I heard people comparing it to Naxos it put me off buying it. I bought Naxos a couple days ago now and I absolutely love it, I understand the similar notes but these are so different..

check Burberry London and xerjoff Naxos side by side i have both barberry london is less long lasting but more smother then xerjoff naxoff.

Naxos plays on a league of its own. I like PH, but Naxos is so... symmetrical.

I got a sample of Naxos way before I blind-bought a fb of Pure Havane (because the curiosity is killing me). Well it turns out i like PH much much more. I realized to my nose, the honey-tobacco combo is better without the lavander. Its just pure sweet tobacco tthat makes it feel grounded and cozy, while lavander in Naxos makes it feel lighter and not very friendly. And because PH is cheaper i can wear it everyday. I got a 2nd bottle the next day, and it makes it more worth it because its already discontinued

Pure Havane had weak projection and weak longevity on my skin. I sold it. Naxos is way better.

I know I'm in the minority but I own both and I prefer Pure Havane!

*Genre Parfums makes a pretty good Naxos clone as well... and it's way cheaper.*

I think PH is really good value compared to Naxos. Naxos is clearly the better scent but I don’t think it’s that much better for the price

Why are these ppl still talking about Pure Havanne it's been discontinued for awhile and they charge 150 to 300 for the last found bottles.I love that cherry pipe tobacco pure havanne I can't find anything like it.

I love pure havane... It's started to irritate my skin though... Looking to get rid on eBay perhaps.

I didn’t like Naxos at all. I don’t know if people are payed to promote it, but it smelled like spearmint gum with honey. I’m from the west coast maybe we have different nose 👃 I hope everybody gets a sample first. I can’t believe how much this stuff smells like spearmint gum and honey!

Pure havane is a 12+ our fragrance on my skin

Yep... I would agree with that... Sticks like mad.

I'm not sure why, but I can't smell Tobacco in either of these. They just smell addictively sweet and creamy to my nose, but no tobacco at all, both my parents used to roll cigarettes, maybe I went blind to it or something. Strange how we don't all smell things the same way.
