Muddiest Point- Phase Diagrams I: Eutectic Calculations and Lever Rule

Ғылым және технология

This video is the first part in a series about phase diagrams. This video used the eutectic phase diagram to define terminology and phase diagram calculations. Phase diagrams II will show eutectic microstructure development. The slide set for this video can be found at the following link:

Seriously people? Do you know how much great information this video contain? I have to read the whole chapter to understand half of what she explains and you all are complaining about her voice instead of thanking her, what's wrong with you, your instructors get a shit load of money and don't even teach you shit, while she's doing it for free!

THANK YOU for this wonderful tutorial, for the slides on Slide Share, and for the Quiz at Quizlet. I'm a dentistry student, and we have a materials module. Our prof was incoherently rambling about this cooling phase equilibrium diagram for two whole weeks (4 hours of lectures), and his lecture notes are totally incomprehensible. But this wonderful video explains it all in 16 minutes, clear and to the point. I'm very grateful to you for your efforts ! All the best ! XX

the comments section here is disgusting. This is a clear, concise, well structured FREE lecture on a technical topic that makes more sense than most lectures on the same topic, and people are hung up on the slightest imperfection in her voice, or making lewd comments about the speaker. I bet most of you wouldn't make these comments if it was a man presenting in exactly the same way with the same imperfections. truly is sad that some of you are so threatened by an intelligent woman you have to hide behind your keyboards and pick something to pieces to make yourself feel better about your insecurity.

I thought your video was very clear and well organized. Drawing on the phase diagram made it easy to follow your steps one-by-one. A way to improve future videos would be to talk about what the two phase regions physical look like as you move left to right. Such as at the 40% wt Sn the microstructure would have 2/3 solid B and 1/3 solid A. And as you move left or right you add or subtract more A and B respectively. Visualizing what it would physically look like is what helped me grasp phase diagrams.
