Much Abrew: UW Miracles (Modern)

Ойындар

Last week during our Instant Deck Techs, our Modern option - UW Miracles - came out on top, which means this week we're heading to Modern to see if the addition of a Brainstorm to the format (in the form of Riverwise Augur from Rivals of Ixalan) is enough to make the archetype function. We know that Terminus and Entreat the Angels are powerful options in a control shell - it wasn't that long ago that they formed the foundation of the best deck in Legacy - but Modern has never really had a working Miracles deck because it's much more difficult to manipulate the top of your deck to set up the miracles. Is Riverwise Augur the enough to change the equation. Let's find out!

The one-long-video approach is worse in my opinion. Here's what I prefer about the single videos: 1) Stopping and returning to the games later at a specific point (e.g. after a specific match) is easier. 2) Skipping a boring/annoying match is easier. 3) You can immediately see what he plays against (from the titles). I also prefer the discussions in the comments section that are specific to each match under the single videos. Furthermore, it seems like it would be smarter to have those multiple 10+ minute videos than just a single, long video. Or am I misunderstanding how KZread monetization works, Seth? Should I bring this up with Richard :P ?

Seth, thank you so much for the quick deck tech in the beginning of the video. I don't always keep up with the instant deck techs, but when you actually play them, I generally want to watch. However, some decks can be hard to understand, and it is not so easy to find the original instant deck tech (I am lazy :P). This is perfect, keep up the good work!

Damn Seth, this deck was sweet! I love control, and I always loved Legacy Miracles, and I had a blast watching you play this baby. I really hope Celestial Colonnade gets a reprint in Masters 25, that $50+ price is the only thing keeping me from building a few control decks in Modern. I would love to see you brew around this deck and play it again in the future! I was trying to think of some cards to possibly help this decks weaknesses, but I think you hit on most of them I had in mind. Catch-all answers a la Detention Sphere, and a couple Logic Knots would really help this deck. Maybe for the sideboard a nice 1 of Geist of Saint Traft for targeted removal heavy decks to add to the win conditions, but that might not be worth it idk.

Seth, I would have played the third game vs jund differently. You decided to wait on entreat for two turns in a row in favor of sculping your hand, giving time the opponent to rebuild. I would have slammed the entreat the first time available, because 3 or 4 angels are enough to really pressure the opponent, either they have a pulse, or they will use a LOT of resources to answer that and won't be advancing their game plan, ad you can be relaxed on sculpting your hand

Theres mixed advice about 4 mana brainstorms , Ive heard Search for Azcanta finding Jace when you're behind means you should bottom Jace, but imo if you have miracles in hand even just a 4 mana brainstorm can be enough to turn the game in your favor. Honestly Terminus feels insane in modern, and now that we have brainstorms each turn we need them, MIRACLES IS COMING BACK

There was a simple line to not lose Round 2 Game 1 against affinity. On your second to last turn you cast telling time into opt serum visions island and kept opt, casting it end of turn after taking a hit. Instead you could have kept visions, cast it right away, opt goes into hand. It turned out terminus was in the next two, so you'd have sried it to the top. Cast opt on your opponents combat to terminus, staying above galvanic blast range. That line at least brings you back to topdeck wars to see who draws out of it, as had been going on for a while.

Could you have remanded your own path and recast it to fizzle the vines?

43:22, I do believe remanding your own patch would have been a lot better. Then you cast it again before Vines resolve. This way he loses the Vines at the cost of one mana that you're not using anyway.

So is this the new format for Much Abrew videos, or is it because these decks are somewhat Against the Odds-esque?

I am definitely a fan of the expedited deck tech. But maybe a strict 30 second limit is not the best. There were times you were talking about a card but were already onto the next slide. Just do the quick deck tech, but don't feel like you need to rush quite so much.

The deck need either detention sphere, or cast out. since cast out cant be abrupt decay'ed and can cycle to draw a miracle.

FelipeWalker2 Because they will just pay 2 life and recast it. He would've wasted the remand rather than actually deal with the surgical

Hey I just would like to point out that you miss played against the etched champion, since colonnade is a colorless creature with devotion to white and blue. You would've been able to close out the game much sooner and have a reasonable board state.

Maybe trying to play jace AoT, it has the mini fof for card draw. His plus stalls the game, and his ult can be game winning in some matches.

Jace, architect of thought? It mostly just gets hit by bolt and the occasional dreadbore. I thought it might be good to play it instead of 2 serum visions.
