Muc-off No Puncture tubeless sealant // 5 month check // Longevity

Спорт

I recently switched to Muc off sealant after having the Orange Seal Endurance formula I was using fail me at Unbound last year. This is a quick check to see how the sealant is holding up after 5 months of use.

Definitely airr liners. But the bigger question is are you still using the G one RS tires?

Yes airliners and yes to the G-One RS. I’ll be using them at unbound this year.

@@JMCyclingVideos wicked, look forward to hearing more about your experience with both. I'll be running the RSs this weekend at the local UCI event, debating on putting something with more knobs on the front but reckon just running lower pressure I'll have all the grip I need. (Following the Silca guide, I'll run 28 to 29 in the front and 29 to 30 in the rear, but I am running them in 45mm.

I’ve been using the Muc-Off sealant ever since switching to tubeless on my road bike with no complaints. Their claim of “life of the tire(or up to 6 months in temperate climates)” was a claim I found dubious at best. That is until I went to change my tires last spring. When I popped the bead off the wheel there seemed to be as much still very liquid sealant in the tires as I had put in the previous spring when I first mounted them. That’s one year, with zero top offs. Unfortunately I can’t attest to its sealing properties because in the two years and two sets of tires I’ve been using it in I haven’t seen a hint of a sealed puncture. Another plus with the Muc-Off is that it’s CO2 compatible.

I’ve heard mixed reviews from others on different videos of mine. Most seem to not like Muc Off. While I haven’t had any issues with drying out prematurely, it did seem to take a long time to seal up my Vittoria Corsa Pro tire casings. That’s really my only complaint. Thanks for adding your thoughts.

have you seen the hint of an unsealed puncture? Ie one that left you stranded. If it has worked for 2 years and 2 sets of tires and you haven't noticed a puncture then its doing a great job! I use it on road, and it does seal small punctures. At the pressures i use, nothing else does.

@@adamcharles9090 to be honest, it’s really hard to tell how well it’s working. I’d assume I’d see at least a hint of the pink sealant if it had sealed a puncture, but I haven’t. For all I really know Muc-off sealant is absolute crap, and I’ve just been really lucky.

@@JeffSinon I agree it could be luck. But in my experience it gets all the low hanging fruit. A dynaplug gets the rest.

@@JMCyclingVideos Great video! Is muc-off still your preferred sealant? In my experience, it does stay liquid for a very long time but might not be strong enough for higher pressures for road tubeless. I've got a cut on a 28mm and plugged with a Dynaplug -- the muc-off sealant seals it to be airtight but after 10-20 mins of riding, the cut opens up again and sprays some sealant out. It does seem to reseal (assuming there is sufficient sealant in the tire remaining) but not fun to have multiple sprays of sealant onto the bike to have to clean later. I want to avoid ammonia sealants and was thinking Orange Seal Endurance but I guess you've gone away from it. Cheers!

Silca Ultimate Sealant is widely known to work too good, sealing the valve cores from the inside so you can’t inflate the tyre after using it 😂

Muc-off dry lube attracts an enormous amount of dirt during my gravel rides (Ukraine, moderate climate, no riding in wet conditions). Finish Line Dry works way, no, WAY better. I’m also switching to Silca hot wax soon, just to test it out. However, I’ve heard a lot of good reviews on the Muc-off sealant, so I’ll be trying it next week.
