MTV (Finland; not affiliated with MTV/Music Television) was launched as a programming block on 13th August 1957. MTV stands for Mainos-TV, which means Advertisement-TV/Commercial TV. Number 3 was added on 1st January 1993, when the channel was given the third nationwide television channel and it generally became known as "Channel Three" or "MTV3".

I am Russian but have been visiting Finland since childhood. I fell in love with Finland and everything that makes it so. MTV3 is not an exception: so peaceful and beautiful toones, I wish our TV could be like this at some point.

@@JontyMaster That's great :) If you are planning a trip to Finland you may want to visit Turku and Helsinki. I'd say Turku is preferable coz the history and the architecture are stunning there, but there are more beautiful places apart from the capital and the Southern part of the country. Lappi is also unbelievably beautiful.

I wish I went to Finland someday and watch MTV3 with my favorite show, and it will be amazing to live in Finland. Jonty is amazing XD.
I'm not sure it qualifies as part of the same channel "continuity", but "Kolmoskanava" had programs MTV3 later inherited and it was a shareholder of it (YLE owned 50 %, MTV 35 % and Nokia 15 %). They merged when MTV bought most of the shares and then changed name to MTV3. So, it's not really the same channel, but kind of.
This is my favorite TV Network of my hometown.

MTV3, earlier MTV, started as a programming block at YLEs two TV-channels in 1957 and existed like that until New Years Eve 1992.
I'm surprised that MTV (USA) did not get lawsuited by this MTV.

And also: we can't trust KZread when it comes to preserving content. We need to use multiple platforms and assume KZread might just remove it any day.
