    It can definitely do that as each format has its own meta and card library.

    So seeing this video is the first time I realised you can choose what packs you want to buy on Arena mobile. I've been getting nothing but Kaldheim thinking they were the only ones available. Didn't notice the drop down..

    Yeah it’s not as intuitive as the desktop version where you see the different set symbols at the top.

    Thanks for making the video, I'm about a year into magic and pretty sure I understand what standard is. However I haven't played any other modes. Well draft but I really hate it, mostly bc you can't play it when u want for free. I've probably spent 500 on arena but even I'm turned off by how draft is done. And kinda scared to play historic as I understand it prior to watching I'll be going against decks made from 20+ years of mtg that I don't even know exist. So not sure how to build vs what I don't know or understand.

    Thanks for the video mate. What frustrated me the most about magic the gathering arena Is the lack of tutorials and information within the game. I played a lot of magic when I was younger but I have no idea what all these different formats mean and the restrictions on the cards etc. etc.

    Hey The Skar..I was wondering if MTG has the commander format..or is brawl equal to that? I saw that it came onto mobile today..so I'm not sure if I should get it.

    Yes, brawl is arenas version of commander and the only difference is the overall card pool.

    the question i have is: if you play as a new player, is it more worth it to buy packs for 1k a piece or play draft for 500 gold? i watched some videos on that and im not rly sure what to do, im new and i also hold to my wildcards i dont wanna craft anything bcuz im not rly sure in which way i wanna progress my collection, do you buy older packs or rather newer packs do you play darft or buy packs, do you craft wildcards with your freebees, i would be thankful for some advice from anyone, i rly like this game and played it as a child, Arena looks like a pretty nice free to play option for Magic Lovers. Specialy that you can draft random cards and get to hold them for yourself after the games.

    drafting in the long run is one of the better ways to farm currency and cards to add to your collection as you only opening packs from a certain set but at the same time it does have a steep learning curve especially when you are still learning the game as well as cards. I would suggest doing a quick draft because you draft against bots and there is no timer between picks and play the matches and after that see how you like it. If you don't like it, I would buy packs and try drafting down the road when you feel more comfortable with the game and cards as a whole.

    Here is my question, if yiou look up Formats for MTG in wiki you get Standard, Modern, Pioneer, Historic, Legacy, Vintage and Pauper. However none of those except Standard and Historic appear in MTGA. Are those NOT available in MTGA? Or do they have another name? Also there are other formats that are not mentioned in MTG wiki, whatp's up with that?

    I used to play magic back in the early 2000s, just downloaded arena a couple days ago and need help understand something. I used a rare wildcard to craft an M19 Shivan Dragon (old school favorite) and it says it cannot be used in the current standard format. Did I waste a wildcard or what? And if I didn’t how do I make use of it now? Sorry if this sounds dumb but I’m trying to figure out the game mechanics.

    Unfortunately the card isn't legal in standard. Standard consists of the sets releases post September 2019 which would include the sets from throne of eldraine to the preset. I can say if you decide to play historic which is a set that includes all the cards ever released on arena then the dragon would be playable. Also heres a link to see the sets in detail as well as see any of the cards currently banned in the format as well. magic.wizards.com/en/content/standard-formats-magic-gathering

    Hi I watched the whole video hoping to give a name to my way of playing Magic, but did not have success. I make videos and record matches for my channel in which I play Magic in one-on-one matches with my friends with the real cards. We play 60-card decks with a commander and 25 life, using cards from the whole of Mtg. From what I have been able to gather watching the video, it should be a mixture of Brawl + Commander...do you have a name for it? Is it an actual format?

  • @TheSkarTV

    @TheSkarTV

    2 жыл бұрын

    Brawl is actually what I think that format would be the base name and then depending what sets you are allowed to use in these decks would give it a format name. Like if you only played the sets that are standard legal then you would call it standard brawl.

    See I want to play magic but if cards get rotated out I would hate to have a expensive meta cards and then can't play it after a couple years....that seems like it sucks....

  • @TheSkarTV

    @TheSkarTV

    3 жыл бұрын

    yeah I mean it keeps people spending money which is good for wizards but at the same time it keeps the meta fresh so one deck isn't the most dominant over others to keep the game fresh. They do have historic which allows you to play any cards from any set in arena so there is that if you want to continue to play the cards you collected.

    yeah but at that point you are almost playing modern since that goes back to 8th edition. Historic is just arena version of what to do with the cards you spent your money after they rotate with the occasion drop of a few cards from older sets.
