Oh my word this brings back memories I both miss the days when arena was like this, and am so very glad that it’s gotten significantly better. Honestly though I think the only things I miss are all of Amonkhet and Kaladesh blocks being in the game before the end of the closed beta. I want some of my favourite cards back.

its interesing watching this back and noticing all the subtle changes arena went through. i also forgot how Kenji looked with hair.

that was freaking amazing. hope mtg watches this video to maybe learn a thing or two about what to change about the game.

change arena for fixes. the actual game of magic is well designed. every game has its flaws, there is no perfect game. list of changes id like to see: -switch between normal hand and graveyard hand, this way you have a better overview of cards. -clicking on a card makes it visible, pressing a button uses it. this allows for no mistakes. -option for buttons to say "end the turn" or "end the main phase" instead of what the button says will happen next. this is especially usefull for older players. -click on a card on the board to specifically always resolve its triggers. -option to have on the board to be straight instead of bended, looks smoother. -option to always let triggers resolve except for new spells entering. there are many more but these popped up immediatly.

Personally I'd like to see a "less frills" mode where you can set up window boxes of certain zones, like you can in MTGO. For example if I am playing a dredge deck or a delver deck with snapcasters, i want to see my graveyard in list form. I don't really care about all the anmiations and stuff. I understand MTGO is extremely dated, but the interface layout is actually extremely customizeable to whatever deck you're playing.

"I want to see a 'skip stack' option." Not a "Skip Stack", but a "Resolve all similar triggers". That way you get get rid of all of the Anointed Priest triggers, without missing any other trigger mixed into the group.

Necessary improvements this video highlights: > Being able to pass priority through a whole stack without using "End Turn" would be helpful. So, how smooth does this play? I know the one on steam is a bit resource intensive for my computer, and doesn't run very smoothly at all. (Maybe if I had something other than a stock pc from insert-large-chain-store-here?)

Who the hell decided that cards with abilities from the graveyard should be displayed IMMEDIATELY next to cards in hand? They could easily have just had the "purple haze" effect emanating around the graveyard to indicate that there is a relevant effect there, rather than clogging up the play space with MORE active objects. Christ almighty.

I managed to get the game to crash when I eternalized a regal Caracal with a scarab god with 2 anointed processions on the field, along with 8 anointer priests. And a few other things that just made it even worse

I run on a high end computer and also did the same thing and the game seems to not be able to handle the triggers, it is an issue on the servers end not the PC.

Hahaha, I was waiting for you to drop that crested sunmare, I usually get people to scoop once those hit the battlefield. Nice one!

The cards need to pop up above the rest when the cursor is hovering near them so that people can drag the mouse across the top of the cards slowly to choose the popped out one they want.

There is a way to have vesuvan doppelgaenger double her triggers every turn (by copying herself with every one) so you get a lot of triggers every upkeep. Did that once, but was to scared to time out after a 32, so I stopped

Thank god they had the foresight to create varying sound effects whenever you gain life, so you don’t hear the exact same sound byte over and over as all the triggers resolve

Rob W As of now, he can't do that as Arena only contains cards from Amonkhet and Ixalan blocks, so no resevoir :(

Does it only pause on casting if the opponent has instants? Because that’s kind of annoying if so. Gives away crucial information.

TheSmokeinya Alright, so he has two anointed processions on the field, so each time he embalmed an anointed priets, he got 4 tokens. He had 12 tokens total, plus 1 non token priest, for a total of thirteen. Now, whenever he embalms or eternalizes, thats four tokens, each of which triggers each anointed priest, meaning 13 life per token, or 52 life per embalm or eternalize. Each of which is a seperate trigger on the stack.

Eww, that slight tap of lands plus the tap symbol on them. I dunno how smoothly the game normally runs, this is my first time seeing it, but it seems to handle that many triggers at once pretty well. Now I wanna load my Krenko EDH deck into it and see if it can handle making 700 goblins in one turn.

It highlights the bottom card instead of the top, which i think is genius. Hate when games highlight the topcard, making it impossible to grab the card under it, in arena you can just move the mice acrosd your hand highlighting every card individually.

@aeghul No. Freeze frame it at 4:17 and use your "" keys to rewind and forward one frame at a time. Any UI that gives the player the bottom card when the mouse is in that position is absolutely broken beyond use. It appears to select the bottom card simply because there's that tiny fragment of the bottom card's border that juts out just a hair above the intended card. Mouse over that little sliver and the bottom card pops out first, which in turn makes the card you want hidden and inaccessible. What a perfect example of /r/softwaregore.

Hey Kenji, I played a build of this deck and crashed the client. Three anointed processions on the battlefield, sixteen anointer priest tokens on the battlefield, then I cast a crested sunmare and embalmed a Vizier of Many Faces to copy the sunmare. The Client did not like that. The anointer priests didn't heal me off those tokens, and at the end of the turn the nine sunmares still tried to make eight horses each, and before the anointer priests could gain a sum of 1,152 life, the client completely crashed. This is a great stress tester for the client, I think.

Lol no I've done basically the same thing as this in Duels, it just takes 5 minutes to resolve all the triggers

Even when the game is somewhat broken, it's still more entertaining to watch than Modo.

Yeah, I think that's the point. WotC wants a visually appealing game for twitch and esports. IMO, it should have been a fresh IP because M:tG has far too much clutter for a mobile game, but that would require them to actually come up with something completely new which is far outside of WotC's wheelhouse. They're the Valve of tabletop games. Sorry for the tangent.

There's an infinite combo able to create an infinite number of treasures using 4x Pitiless Plunderer, Ruthless Knave, Jungle Creeper, Anointed Procession and 3 mana available. I'd love to see you give that one a show and REALLY see if the game crashes when A LOT of shit is on board.
