Mt Taranaki's Alpine Rainforest and Dawson Falls | NZ Travel Vlog 3 of 3

In our final vlog from this NZ road trip series, we went to the North Egmont Visitor Centre before we set off on our Mt Taranaki walk. The track we did was called the Veronica Loop. We initially weren't planning on doing the entire loop but ended up doing it when we completely missed the lookout point we were suppose to go to!
Apparently if you want to get to the popular lookout point on this route, at the signposted junction, you need to keep going up the Holly Hut Track for 10 minutes to reach it. We didn't realise and instead completed the full Veronica Loop Track instead. Don't make the same mistake we did unless you like the look of our 2 hour hike and don't mind a lot of uphill walking! Getting to the lookout point and returning the same way we came would have been only about a 40 min walk instead 😅
North Egmont Visitor Centre
Address: 2679 Egmont Road, Taranaki 4386
Hours: Mon-Sun 8:30am-4pm
After our tiring walk, we made our way over to a nearby town called Inglewood. We were super glad to come across a small Japanese/Korean takeaway shop especially since most places were closed at the time! It was a total bonus that the food we had was delicious too.
Jin's Sushi
Address: 38C Rata Street, Inglewood 4330
Hours: Mon-Fri 9:30am-3pm
Sat 10am-4pm
Sun Closed
After an unexpected quick nap in our car at Dawson Falls Visitor Centre, we did even more walking to see Dawson Falls itself, an 18m high waterfall at Egmont National Park.
Dawson Falls Visitor Centre
Address: Manaia Road, Taranaki 4391
Hours: Thu-Sun 9am-4pm
Mon-Wed Closed
NB: Opened 7 days a week during school holidays 9am-4pm
Our accommodation was a clean, comfy and cosy self-contained unit on a farm in Eltham which we booked via Booking.com:
Charmain & Piet's accommodation

So apparently we were only 10 mins away from the lookout point we missed 😅 At the signpost junction, you need to keep going uphill for another 10 mins onto the Holly Hut Track (and then you can return the way you came) making it a much shorter walk! Don't be like us and end up doing the full 2 hour Veronica Loop (unless you want to of course) 😆😅 Hope you guys enjoyed this road trip series! Next up... South Island 😁✌️🇳🇿

love your videos and superb movie class camera work - great informative commentary from two charming, telegenic, and articulate hosts - I am a New Zealander living overseas for over 20+ years - whenever I get homesick I watch your videos and they are a great comfort - although they just make me more homesick! BTW your restaurant and food choices are the absolute best! I make a note of every one of them to ensure I visit them when I next get back home - keep up the great work - one day you guys will have your own TV or NETFLIX travel show! Best - Alex

kerosene creek and wai o tapu are both really nice natural hot bathes wai o tapu has two pools and you can put candles in the holes in the walls and if your a pro there are crevices where there is a dirt that people sell its as expensive cream and kerosene creek has a hot waterfall. both of them are on the road between taupo and rotorua

@@PeterandYen yeah they have them in little bottles at massage places and stuff. i usually rub it all over and then wash it off in the water it make my skin soft. if you ever visit, you will see crevices where people have been digging away at the walls of the pool there is a distinct white coloured clay grab a handfull it should just crumble into your hand. there is usually orange and other mineral colours they are ok but we want the white stuff mainly. once you have some of the white clay squeeze it or rub it together in your hands and it turns into a nice cream, take candles and a beer and chill out :)

Hey Peter and Yen!! So great to see you guys going on this Rainforest adventure. Love seeing the relief map tat the Visitors center. That's cool that you can climb the mountain. Do you have to get passes to hike the overnight trails?? In California for example if you want to go to the top of Mt. Whitney, you have to have a hiking permit. What a beautiful place to visit.

Hey girls! 🙂👋 Ooo that's interesting to know! I'm not sure about needing hiking permits for the overnight trails. I think you might need to register somewhere that you're doing it but not 💯% sure!

It's nice and weird in the same time that you're allowed to film in small shops or restaurants or any enclosed buildings. In England if you hold any camera you would be shot down before getting in. Enjoy your freedoms there guys. Lovely videos.x

Oh wow really? 😮 We'll have to remember that if we ever make our way to England 😅 yea NZ is pretty chilled out about these things. Often we'll ask the business if they mind us filming though and 99.9% of the time people are more than happy to which is great coz it means we get to share these places with whoever comes across our videos! 🙂 Definitely feel blessed that we're able to travel around NZ ❤️ Take care over there and thank you for watching! 🙂👋💞
