Mt. Niblock Scramble (HD), Lake Louise, Alberta
Спорт
Here is our scramble of Mt. Niblock in the #LakeLouise area. My inaugural GoPro video so bear with me. Didn't use any audio tracks for this one. What a fun ridge hike from the col to the summit. Really enjoyed it. Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks!

Long ago, 2021, I got the Covid travel bug, and went out to Banff. I watched this video many times and got inspired. Many scrambles like Fortress, Chester and Eiffel later, I am still absolutely no way, no how, getting up THAT. After couple years, it still looks ridiculous.
Thanks again for this video. Thinking of doing this guy this Saturday

... I loved it. Have a great climb! The hardest part is getting up to the parking lot....
Harlen thanks for this great video, gives me a solid understanding for what to expect when doing this objective this summer.

Glad it helped. Amazing views if you get a good day like we did.
Great video, looks sketchy due to loose scree and exposure, stunning views at the top! Thanks for sharing!

...Thanks for that....Well when I first decided to do it I was a little concerned about what I would see when I got to the final ridge walk and I can now say that it was better than I thought it would be. Didn't freak me out at all.
awesome love the videos fellas

SuperL ...They sure are! One of my favorite climbs for sure. The ridgewalk to the summit was the best part though. Cheers!
Great job on your epic hike! I didn't know there's a trail.

There are cairns most of the way. Some route finding required higher up though.
Yet another great video Harlan!

Wandering Sole Images ..Its an amazing scramble!
I triggered a pretty bad rock slide on the East Knob of Black Tusk in BC a number of years back so the amount of scree on this climb induces a small degree of panic. LOL! I do want to climb this sometime though.

That would have been a little frightening I'm sure. Niblock has a couple of places that has a very steep grade combined with loose rock. Sometimes you just don't know when the rock is going to stop moving. Cheers!
*whew* looks like lots of exposure on this one, love your vids

Actually it's not too bad. Go pros fisheye effect makes it look a little worse than it is.
great video, Thanks for sharing.

really looking forward to this hike and the cascade mountain hike that you have posted.
can you describe a little more in depth the waterfall section and then the ridge. I kind of just started my hiking/scrambling career. started with cascade a month ago and sort of ran out of time (made it halfway up false summit) and i thought i was crazy but i made it through the dragon's back on my way to the west rundle summit a week ago. i hike alone usually so i have to be a little more cautious...i'll probably settle for the devils thumb and six glaciers hike weather permitting next week for now. your knife edge video on lady mac is nuts! but like all the videos i'm sure it's a little better in person.

... Well the ridge on Niblock isnt as bad as a lady Mac IMO. it's not as narrow, however there are a few scramble areas leading up to it. Nothing crazy though. Well marked. Thevwatwrfall section is at the top of the scree cone and this is where you need your helmets on. You just climb up next to the waterfall which isnt flowing very much. Its been so long since I've done it now that I dont have a lot of recall on the waterfall other than what is in the video. Sorry. Best if luck for you.

Mike Buenting Hey Mike. This was my first scramble that I ever used a Gopro. Its the Hero 4 with a selfie stick with goPro mount on it. I also had a mount on my helmet so I could transfer the gopro between helmet and stick depending on if I needed my hands to scramble or not.
It looks very exciting! Are the rocks loss on the summit ridge?

The holds were surprisingly quite solid.
Hey, how dangerous is it to do this hike with only two people? Heading to Alberta and visiting Banff, Jasper, and the kananaski region and want to do as many awesome hikes and at least a couple summits. For some reason I've developed a fear of Grizzlies (no reason at all really) but it's there. That's what i mean by how safe is it.... can you suggest to me any that you know are safer bear wise (maybe there's a less populated bear area there). Would be greatly appreciated! Looking for any and all types

Ive watched a few of your videos from around and would love to do them all one day but which ones would you suggest for only 2 people? I know some require at least 4 ppl?
@HarlanFox--Scrambles

I never worry about bears even though they are out there. One thing you should always have is bear spray and know how to use it. As far as where to go they can be anywhere. If you are worried just pick a hike that lots of people do. The bears are less likely to be where a lot of people are. Hope this helps.

Thanks! I have experience with backcountry portaging in Ontario with black bears and what not so I have had bear spray so that's good. Just need to get over the worried feeling about the Grizzlies. Love them to pieces and I know my fear or not so much fear but worrisome is irrational
i know i’m three years late, but i was thinking about doing this hike next week. i’m not the most experienced hiker, so i was wondering if there were any spots where i’d be at risk and should look out for?

any spots with cliff exposure where a mistake could end up fatal?
@HarlanFox--Scrambles

...The biggest potential for danger on this hike now is weather. If it snows up high with the cool weather it will make things quite slippery.

The shakiness makes it hard to watch although the resolution is great. Please don't be one of those posters who add obnoxious music to their videos, terrible, terrible idea.
