Beautiful old house

It took me years living out west to truly appreciate and love the Pennsylvania wilds. Don't get me wrong, I grew up in North Central Pa. and always enjoyed / was in the woods every chance I got. But strangely enough I would find that I was encountering things in my travels that would remind me of the natural beauty of Pa. Keep wandering my friend.

I agree I do miss the beauty of PA. I was blessed that I was able to go to that area (I used to live there) just recently.

For some reason Paul Giamatti never talks about his KZread channel....but here he is sharing the details of this wonderful historic site and its beautiful hiking trails.

Chester county, in general, has some of the finest land in the country. There is no other region I have visited that is equally steeped in both beauty and history.

Valley Forge is on my bucket 🪣 list thanks for showing us the real beauty of this national park

Wood thrush is very beautiful sounding bird .

I love visiting Valley Forge. Many years ago I had a friend who was a park ranger and lived in one of the small older park homes. You used to be able to go sledding there.

I live about 15 miles from there and have been wanting to check this out for years and see the bottling plant, but it just never happened. Thanks for posting this. I saw it and decided to go out yesterday and walk this. Glad to have it checked off the bucket list.

I used to hike that trail about 3 times a week for a workout for between 2012-2017. You missed the best section of trail for your legs, the uphill spur of the Wolfinger trail from along the creek. That will get the quads burning and the lungs wheezing pretty quick !! I always enjoyed hiking Mt Misery vs Mt Joy on the other side of the road.

That could have been a root cellar with the ornate door. Used for storing vegitables and other food items over winter.

My dad grew up in a home bordering the park. He always talked about swimming and fishing in the creek until a chemical spill happened and permanently polluted the water. Unfortunately I have no further details but think it could explain the signs.

My idea of a log cabin is the "Chief Joseph Ranch aka Yellowstone Dutton Ranch. 🤠 I sure miss fishing the clear streams, creeks and rivers of Pennsylvania, at least I didn't have to worry about wrestling gators like I do now here in Central FL. 😨 Nice hike and video. 😎👍🏻

I had the pleasure of attending a weeding at the Valley Forge Military Academy years ago. The father of the bride spared no expense. They rented the auditorium and had a live "big band". I would have loved to tour more of the grounds.

Now that you've hiked Mt Misery, you need to hike Mt Joy (the other mountain near Knox parking lot).

I went to Valley Forge for my 6th grade school trip, also a couple times with family in the springtime to see the dogwoods blooming, that was back in the early 60s. Used to be a tower there you could climb, but was taken down and is now near Harrison Point St Park at the Pa Grand canyon.in Tioga Co near where I live now.

I grew up around Valley Forge and its history is way different then what is taught in school. You should check out the market on rt 23 west of the park. Then try the Audubon sanctuary on pawlings rd in Audubon lots of cool trails there as well.

Ahh, you correctly identified wineberries. Very few people seem to know what they are called. They are probably the only Rubus(raspberry) species whose berries ripen encased in a hairy, sticky covering that doesn't open until the berries are ripe. They are usually ripe in early July in the Delaware valley region.

I live nearby here and didn't know that the Mt. Misery trail existed, thank you for showing us that. I used to walk to Horseshoe Trail through woods and pass by a water tower, I'd come out near the Wharton Esherick museum and use a road that wasn't maintained anymore.

One of my favorite trail areas is off Pawlings Rd just over the Schuylkill River coming from Rt 23, there is a dirt parking lot.

I found it. If you are not in good shape, stay on the Valley Creek trail. Mt. Misery is properly named. Also the trailhead in the video is closed. Go down the Valley Creek Trail, right at the fork and up to Mt Misery.

Growing up in this area the Valley Creek from what I was told is polluted. A printing company dumped a chemical into it years ago. There were always nice brook trout that survive there and many times you see people fishing for them, but you obviously can’t eat them.

I didn't know there were hiking trails at Valley Forge. Thanks for the trip! (I'm going to try your tuna wrap up. Looked good.)

Most of use Goths are the friendliest folks

I've been watching your videos for about a year. It seems like Pennsylvania is pretty densely populated judging by your drives and some of the hikes. Is this generally true? I live out west so I really don't know. I've been through a couple of corners of Pennsylvania on my way to other states. It was very busy in those areas and, because of bad weather, I didn't get to explore Pennsylvania.

I have seen other lakes polluted by industry where you can catch fish but shouldn't eat them. Usually signs tell you which fish are okay and which are not. Chronic wasting disease is also killing mammals and is easily spread, so you need to be aware of what is going on in your area.

Yes it is very polluted from industry that put many chemical dumped and sewage was dumped and still dumped in the broken sewer pipes in Chester county!

I am in Valley Forge at least 3 times a week. I am so confused to exactly where you are. Nothing looks familiar

Coming from Phoenixville on route 23 then turn right on (252) Valley Forge Road and the creek will be on the right side just keep going until you see those buildings and a parking lot. The building are just past the covered bridge.
