Mt. Everest Rural Life (1): Gutuk Day, How We Tibetan Remove Devil from House at the Eve of New Year
My wife Dolma and my mother Dawa, are very supportive of my KZread video shooting work. They took care of my 1 year old son Yonten during the new year celebration days, allowing me to leave home for video shooting for my dear fans. This gave me the opportunity to be at the foot of Mount Everest to celebrate the New Year festival with the local farmers. I filmed the New Year's life of a rural villager at the foot of Mount Everest for my beloved fans.
Driving to Bason Village at the foot of Mount Everest, the villagers welcomed me warmly as if I were family. They have lived for generations at the foot of Mount Everest, spending their days in the company of the majestic mountain. Looking out from their windows, they can see the graceful and towering figure of Mount Everest. I spent two full day with them, cleaning the house on the eve of the New Year, preparing for the dinner of GuTuk night, witnessing how they gathered with relatives, how they remove devil from house, and welcomed the arrival of the first day of the New Year. This feeling was so wonderful, truly unforgettable.
The beautiful village at the foot of Mount Everest is primitive and peaceful. I wish I could bring my dear fans here. Here, you can see such beautiful scenery and meet such warm-hearted villagers. Some rural Tibetans may hang Jinping’s portrait due to obligation to the state for any subsidy or help they receive. But as in this video, all Tibetans will only hang the 10th Panchen’s portrait, and never the present Chinese-elected one in any monastery or home, not even in the chapel of the TashiLhunpo. Speaks a great deal about their unspoken loyalty. The Chinese state mandatorily slathers its flags everywhere in public places in Tibet. Why are Han Chinese cities and towns exempt from that. Isn’t that discriminatory treatment?

Because you are just a foreigner & an outsider in China 中国 include Xizang 西藏. That's why you will never understand the patriotism of the Chinese citizen include the Mainland Tibetan (Tibetan with Chinese nationality) to China 中国.
