I pulled the trigger, bought the GE78 HX, exact ver I got was the Raider GE78HX 13VH-070US over the weekend. So far soo good. Still learning all the functions and settings on it but all good so far. $2799.99 at my local Micro Center so better pricing than at original release. Threw a WD Black 4TB drive in right away as secondary drive.

Thanks to your videos, I bought a laptop after watching your reviews. i tested my msi ge78hx RTX 4090 in TimeSpy (no overclock). i have total score 20464. (Graphics score 21641 and CPU score 15645). And Cinebench Multi 32622pts. Single 2096pts.

Would you recommend the Ge78 with 4090 or the Gt77 with 4080. Im guessing the Ge but didn’t know if the screen, the cooling system, keyboard and the slots for ram would make that the better choice.

Great video! If i may offer a suggestion to make the vids even more better, please get a microphone thats on your shirt or whatever. i have to change the volume everytime haha. Still great tho!

Hello one question, I’m thinking of getting the MSI Raider GE78HX with the 4070, since I use it for work rendering and modeling, I don’t need the 4080-4090, performance wise cpu is it the same as the 4080/4090, since it fits my budget $2600 or will you recommend going for the ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 17 (2023) Ryzen 7945 4080 $2800 or 4070 that’s $2,000… best regards

I've had major problems with mine, audio cracking, majority of games always running at 80% vram. Insane heat temperatures. Ports stop working (when hot) wifi struggles on inital power up. Had 2 blue screens. Not even had it a month yet 😂😂

So happy I went with the GT77 Titan. Nothing can touch the 4K mini LED panel on this thing

Just an idea, you could open Nvidia overlay next time to see if the TDP is mismatched with Afterburner, at least on the GPU!

As far as Cinebench goes, do the GE78 and GT77 have the same CPU? You may have just hit the silicon lottery on the GE78with it getting higher scores.

Ok yeah the TDP is weird it should be 250 like the GT77 and the scores matched or beat it so may be an error with current Afterburner?

4080s and 4090s on Razer is just the perfect form

I just went with the Scar 16 4090 today. I have a MSI GP66HX but wanted a 40 series. I maybe should’ve gone with this MSI again 🙃

I have the GE78 HX 13VI with the 13980HX and 4090, and it has that exact same power brick as the GT77 one you showed.

that large power brick is a 330w, but if its not even coming close to that power draw what's even the point? I rater have the better sized brick for weight savings somwhere and not needing to have a huge brick protruding from my computer bag

8:00 Got my Raider GE78HX yesterday and it has the GT77 power brick......I'm very annoyed.

I have this laptop with the 4090 rtx, the screen keeps going blank while watching KZread. I have to hold the power button down for 10 secs then the screen flickers back on. Anyone else having issues?

@@JesseSeg84 That's irrelevant. Clock speeds were higher and temps lower on the Raider. Do you watch all the actual results in the videos?

The rtx 4090 version could have gotten a better result in timespy and get in line with msi titan gt77.🤓

Is getting better FPS in Dead Space than the Scar 18 having a worst GPU?

God of War is weird to me. I get 85 with my Legion 7i 2021 at 1600P max settings DLSS quality. I thought the difference would be way bigger.

This needs a better screen. Sigh. If they had done an 18 with the Blade's screen, I'd actually buy this. Can't win LOL.

You really need to start telling us whether IR for Windows Hello is included with the cam and if not if Windows Hello in a fingerprint form is there, or nothing at all. This is one thing you just skip over and I am sure it's important to more than just myself. I get frustrated every time I see your webcam section in a review cause you never say anything either way. Drives me nuts! Also is MSI still shipping with Mcaffee BLOATWARE? This is important too. This is where Razer has a huge edge I will admit. I mean I hate uninstalling it so if I get an MSI I might force myself to use it as my AV, as I am worried it will cause issues down the road unless I do a completely clean install, and I don't even know at this stage whether MSI makes that easy or not like Razer do (just install Synapse and it's all automatic with Windows update but you don't need to with Razer anyway ironically). All that said, if this had a brighter screen I'd have finally found my laptop. Just realised it DOES have IR cam as well according to MSI site, perfect as I love that login feature. Man we got so close this time. Without Dolby Vision Netflix will look awful and compressed at 1080P/ 300 nits. 4K would solve it but Netflix only streams 4K with a 4K screen so maybe there's a workaround to force 4K on Netflix. But still 350 ish is not very bright. Even at 500 I have my Legion at max all the time. At the end of the day. it doesn't make a difference for any other streaming service on Windows other than KZread or Netflix (in Australia at least), but that's what I watch the most. Actually apparently you can get 4K on Disney now also but I have not tried it due to no 4K panel at this time and only seeing a 1080P max option here on my 1600P display. Still so confused what to buy sigh.

The 4070 is meant for 1080P 100+ FPS If you want 1440p 100 FPS in laptops you’ll need the 4080 / 4090 Can’t believe you don’t include Sager Laptops , Huge price for performance

Do you really need i9 13900 hx paired with 4070? They could have installed i7 13700h and dropped price by about 500$ and you wouldnt notice it unless doing some processor heavy things

$2k is really steep for a 4070, especially in a Sager. The GPU is only worth $1500 at best given its performance profile. "All for $1999" isn't a deal.

@@killerra You obviously don’t know laptop market pricing with warranty’s , Samsung SSD’s , 32GBs of Ram .. Most laptops come with 16GB unless your spending 2200+ 2 year warranty’s cost 300$+ from most manufacturers.. now your already sitting around 2700$ for a 4070 The original price for my laptop is 1600$ .. with default specs .. Still including the 4070 & 13900HX .. I know what I’m speaking upon

Bought the Alienwear X17 R2 nothing but issues. I already sent it back got a replacement and a new set of issues. Stay away!

The metal portion of the hinge will eventually fatigue and come apart from the plastic chassis. It will probably happen after the laptop has long been replaced, but it will happen. Cheap plastic chassis for a throwaway product.

OMFG that laptop is hideous. It has christmas lights on the front. I just got the razer Blade 16 with dual display mode. I'm not even considering anything else.
