MSI D3052 - The AM5 Ryzen & EPYC motherboard that doesn't exist
Ғылым және технология
This insane little MSI server motherboard has Dual 25GbE. Yep you read that correctly. DUAL TWENTY FIVE GIGABIT ETHERNET. The only catch is... you can never own it.

I don't in the least. In fact it's always bothered me that there isn't actually a valid reason for them to be green anymore but due to sheer legacy inertia it's still the cheapest option at many board fabs. It makes the most sense to do black because most customers want black but instead it's an upsell at many places.

@@BeefIngotto be fair it is a server board, it’s typically not the type of computer to show its internals

@@BeefIngot green pcbs a lot easier to work on for soldering and rework, traces are more obvious imo.

@RomvnlyPlays I understand that, but I think you're missing my point: The only reason it's green is because at some point in time that used to be for a technical reason that hasn't been relevant for decades. The issue, is that board fabs produce all sorts of boards, not just motherboards. so the continuance of this green trend just makes a lot of unrelated things unnecessarily ugly with no technical benefit purely because it's cheaper to make a lot of one type of thing. In essence I'm saying the default color of a motherboard in the modern day should be black, because you need the solider mask anyways, black is easier to make look colour matched and the white default silkscreen is most visible on it.

@amirpourghoureiyan1637 I've seen a lot of reverse engineered reasons but I find it pretty hard to believe anyone sees gold on green better than gold on black. The contrast difference is massively in favour of black for that purpose.
MSI needs to make these generally available and not just to integrators. Having dual 25gbit available in a desktop formfactor is going to see plenty of enthusiasts build new homelabs, NAS servers and the like with the 4004.
NIce, like to see more of this! Really interesting to put them to use in server / virtualisation environments!!
appreciate a competitor to AsRock Rack in this space
Awesome video fams. The board looks awesome, I would love one for my home network. Keep up the hard work
That's a seriously neat bit of gear 😍
nice piece, rarely i see any consumer cpu on DC
Did MSI removed the product link? That was fast. Newegg sells the D3051 so maybe they will eventually sell this one as well.
i wish this motherboard is easy to get in my country. it's hard for me to find this kind of board, either it's asrockrack, gigabyte enterprise or even supermicro am5
so... what are you "missing" really, if using a Ryzen CPU instead of a Epyc?
What would this be used for usually?

Typically in situations where efficiency, density and size matters. Usually for cloud instances that require lots of CPU cores in a HA cluster or something like a web hosting company in the datacenter. Typically these type of systems would be network booted and used for their CPU compute. In a homelab these are great for storage servers. hypervisors and stuff like Docker Swarms or for Kubernetes etc. We'll be using it for a vCenter/vSphere Cluster and migrating 6 of our mini PC servers into 2 boxes with these boards and a pair of Epyc 4004s.
Return on the cat shirt please?

It's too big. It looks like a tent on me now
Make a gaming rig from it for the fun of it
I've seen more Hen's Teeth for sale than a board of this kind 😂
it's green...
MSI to the rescue for all those failing 13th / 14th gen game servers ;)
First!
