Nice find man! I have an MSI 645E Max-C, but I don't understand the differences between mine and this "U" version. They seems very similar with 645DX chipset and AGP universal too.

Thanks. As I can see, the difference is that your board has a CNR slot and the "U" version does not have. See here : theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/msi-645e-max-c theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/msi-645e-max-u

Nice find. It's rare I find components in thrift shops here, let alone complete systems.

Thanks. You can find them often in my country. Its just a matter of finding a seller that does not ask a lot of money 💰💰

I got a PC with that same MSI 645E Max-U board for 20€ from a thrift shop back in 2011. I think it's the only desktop I've bought from a thrift shop, it's rare to see PCs anymore and they are often overpriced. Though in 2016 I found an Asus CUSL2-C and Epox EP-6VBA boards for 1€ each

They are not bad motherboards, I've had no issues with them and they work well with Windows 98SE for retro nostalgia and retro gaming. Always inspect and check the PSU before plugging in power because if the PSU happens to be bad then it could damage the motherboard. Many computers I've found/or bought for cheap have bad capacitors on the motherboard and inside the PSU but normally fixable. You got a good deal. With some cleaning and fixing the case up you could sell this for 160 pounds/dollars with Windows 98 installed and drivers installed. These beige case's on there own without anything in them are selling for 20 to 50 pounds/dollars. Old PC's are bring crazy money now. .

Hello and thank you for your comment. You have a great point there. I do have a psu tester and I should test the PSU before the turning it on. I will try to do it from now on to avoid damage to the motherboard. I do change the capacitors on the motherboard but did not do the same for the PSU till now since I am afraid to work on them (especially if they are on the hight voltage side). The biggest problem is the shipping of the whole computers, they are bulky and heavy and that's why the shipping is too expensive. But yes, they are worth some crazy money these days.
