MSFS Old school GPS approach tutorial (RNAV-GPS approach with no vertical guidance.)

Ойындар

Hello flight simmers, and welcome back to Alpha Hotel Flight Simulator Training.
This is our 5th video in our series on fly RNAV (GPS) approaches. In this video we'll look at how to fly an RNAV (GPS) approach with no vertical guidance. We’ll take a look at how these approaches work, how to fly them, and then we’ll go demonstrate flying one in the GNS 530 equipped analog Cessna 172 Classic.

Great videos. I have a KLN-94 non-waas GPS. Perfect video to allow me to simulate my check ride airplane on the 430. For some reason, the VDP calculations I missed in the instrument training GS. I’m going to write these on my approach plates in Foreflight so I’ll be using your calcs on my check ride. Nice weather setup. Very real RPM settings. Thanks again for all the time and detail making this video to help on my IFR check ride.

@dannyjensen4954, using the CDFA technique and VDP's is relatively new. I didn't learn it in my initial instrument training, nor my CFI-I training. I was only exposed to it about 15 years ago - and I think GA has been slower to take it up than cooperate and airline flight departments have. It makes a lot of sense for most approaches, though. It's safer, less workload intensive, and easier to fly than "Dive and Drive" Glad you enjoyed the content, and found it helpful. Thanks for watching!

Last time I flew there was no GPS, lol. I think you need another definition of old school mate, lol.

@Despiser25 - well for a GPS, it's old school. If you want to go really old school, you can still do that in MSFS: kzread.info/dash/bejne/m5Wgr7uDn9Dfirg.htmlsi=2WCvFc306v-RLo-P Make sure to head up to Alaska to fly on the LF/NDB airways. (And stand by for the video on NDB instrument approaches, hopefully coming in the not-too-distant future.) Thanks for watching!
