Oh my God THANK YOU SO MUCH. I've been so bummed that I haven't been able to fly helos. I've been flying the UH-60 and other addons for almost a year now.... I knew I wasn't THAT terrible. This completely fixed my issue! No more death wobble and flipping upside down within 2 seconds of lift off! I just flew the Bell for about 30 minutes, winding down the Colorado river in the grand canyon like 50 feet off the water. Made several landings and crazy maneuvers... And alas... no crashes! Again THANK YOU SIR!

I am still wanting to really like Helicopters in MSFS 2020 - seems amazing, although I am still preferring DCS World Helicopter models so far....but I really think it's a matter of poper controller setup. (Flight simming = 85% setup and tinkering, 15% flying hehe) I hope I get there. Thanks again!

Thank you especially because Microsoft gave this same advice online for the bug, whether they worked that trick out themselves or not, but they left out the important detail of making sure to also select realistic for legacy setting. Finally i can get to give these two heli's a whirl.

I tried this and other suggestions, but still couldn't control helicopters. What I found out is the default helicopter mapping for the tail rotor is set to incremental increase and decrease, which treats the RT and LT triggers on the Xbox controllers as regular buttons. That both makes it very slow to react and (and this is key!) it leaves the tail rotor thrust set until you use the opposing trigger to bring the tail rotor back. There is no immediate response and no automatic centering when you let off the trigger, so it's a constant chase with no idea if you are correcting properly. I duplicated the default helicopter profile and set the RT and LT triggers to their respective tail rotor axis increase and decrease (not incremental), along with some other adjustments for my tastes. Boom, a night and day difference! I had to decrease the sensitivities to my liking, but now I can fly the 407 almost like I know what I'm doing. It's going to take practice, but it now responds as it should. Also of note is if you max out the collective, the torque can become more than what the tail rotor can compensate for and you'll still spin out of control (and likely get low rotor rpm warnings). If that happens, reduce the collective to unload the torque and regain rotor authority.

I flew the H135 before without that issues, so I knew Helos are not crazy in MSFS, also played Take On Helicopters and a few other Helo Sims so I had a slight understanding of how things should work and crashing after 3 seconds with the Main Rotor hitting the runway can't be what it should :D

Don't forget to exit MSFS after you make the change to Legacy, I did not and the behavior was the same. After I restarted it, to my delight the wobble was gone. Thank you Thank you Thank you.

Thank you for the video! I will have to try this next time I try flying the helicopters! I hope it fixes it for me. I was starting to think I was doing something wrong. No matter what I did my helicopter would start to spin uncontrollably after lift off or just straight up flip upside down. I managed to gain control a few times and was able to fly for a little bit until suddenly my heli would start freaking out again!

I don't see a force trim release map. I hope this will come. So excited that Msfs have finally implemented helicopters. The scenery in Msfs coupled with VR makes helicopter flying so realistic its crazy. I tried out the Bell 407 but I sucked so went back to the H145. I will try this fix and see Thanks for the videos

try to set it back to modern as I say in the video, users reported it works after doind the steps above and setting it back to modern afterwards

Spent two days trying to fix this bug with your video on controls setup. Tried this "within" the flight and it didn't work. Absolutely have to select Legacy from the main menu. It actually flew fine in Legacy realistic as well as after I went back to the main menu and switched back to modern...weird little bug to cause such a fuss.

Thanks for keeping the community updated. Unfortunately this fix doesn't work for me. With controls centered (hands off stick) when I gently raise collective, the moment I lift off the helo immediately banks to the left and gyrates out of control. 🤷🏽‍♂️

maybe try unchecking the reverse axis on the collective. some people are saying check or uncheck varies because the collective is showing full torque even with half throttle

@@DCMcF Thanks for that suggestion, but that was one of the first things I tried. Someone also suggested deleting all joystick settings and reset them all again now that we're in SU11. I'll give that a try later.

Thats not an issue from Asobo or the sim, is the way helicopters do when you're not having tail rotor controlling. You must to compensate with the rudder,otherwise the helil tend to spin if you're not compensating with the rudder. If this is happening to you, you probably deactivated the assists that were introduced within the last update. Check the other videos from this channel and you'll see that this is a normal behavior from the heli and not an "issue"

@@CesarTrombeta Thank you, I appreciate your reply but I am familiar with the control of the tail rotor and how you must compensate for the helo's rotation. This is not that. I have experience with other helo sims as well as a dozen or so helos in MSFS (none of which has this issue) This is an issue with ONLY the two new helos introduced with SU11. I'm guessing it's some obscure setting I need to change in the options but haven't found yet.

It did solve the problem, now i just need to learn to fly helicopters 😂

Nevermind, I tried the other "Cabri" and encountered "The Bug" for sure. The workaround helped, but... I'm sorry to say this, but I have finally removed all AirlandFS supported helicopters from my system for good. Not because of the bug, but because now I don't see the reason to still use them even if there is not a whole lot of the native ones available at the moment. Thanks, Airland Studios, I had fun with the "black" R-44 for a bit (and only with that), but Navier-Stokes is Navier-Stokes after all...

What annoys me is when I map the throttle it controls the collective. Ughh

For me even double switching from realistic to legacy and back to realistic didn't help but I didn't moved this realistic scrolls. Have to do it and try next time. I remember about 1,5 year ago My DC6 from pmdg suden nly broke and started flying very strange. After very long time looking for help it looked up I had to change flight model.... I don't know why MSFS is great and do weird the same time.

I have pc Cowan MD500e...I need to, please see your mapping and joystick sensitivity as my 500 flies like its piloted by a drunk! Also, I purchased it from the Cowan site and now in Marketplace it shows as not purchased and now I cannot fly it in Xbox! Help.😅❤❤❤

Need a fix for the bug where other players rotors on the helicopter have no animations because all I see is a helicopter floating with no rotor movement on other players

For me it starts spinning when im Hovering and my throttle is at 100%. Anything less than that and its fine

I think that's just a case of loading the rotor torque more than the tail rotor can handle. It happens to me too, accompanied by loss of rotor rpm.

Did not fix the problem for me. Helicopter is basically uncontrollable, with either a joystick or keyboard.

Same. It last for about 30 secs to a min and happens about every 10 mins.

Actually It's bug its' not ( yeahl earn to fly a helicopter !! ) it's especially with the gamepad on pc and console ) thanks for the video

A bit more research would have been nice. So the flight model for choppers gets bugged after update 11. You don't want to stay in legacy mode because the flight model is FSX quality. I don't know about you but I ditched FSX for a reason and that will go for many of us. So it is essential that you go back to the modern flight model setting. That's what this is all about.

There is no legacy helicopter flight mode in MSFS 2020, you will still be flying in the brand new helicopter flight mode. Setting temporarily to legacy and then back to modern will take away the bug that some users are experiencing….this is all what this video is about …

The legacy mode does some really weird things to the helicopter flight model. I tried it and its super weird. It flies almost like a normal plane even with assists off. Changing back to modern is an integral part of the fix.

They didn't fix it in the update...lol

If you take off in a helicopter, it shouldn’t immediately do a barrel roll and land upside down! It’s a bug and this video fixed it!

There IS a bug for some people. It makes the chopper spin, wobble uncontrollably and flip over. Switching to legacy and then back to modern flight model completely fixed my problem! Now I can finally fly the 407!!!
