Enjoyed your video very much. It was well shot and edited, giving a faithful representation of ship & shore. Indeed I played a 'cameo' role at around 19:30! Of course it is impossible to do everything. Apart from the features you highlighted, our group enjoyed both the Raj Polo Tea House & the Elixir Mixology Bar; the U-Drop was quite an experience! We took the MSC shuttle to Marseille city centre (as you did) and the MSC tour to Pompeii; otherwise, we did our own thing ashore. Mucem in Marseille is well worth a visit, both for the architecture of the museum itself and the presentation of Mediterranean history & culture. Pompeii was amazing. The palaces in Genoa are stunning. Our trip by regular train to Taormina (from Messina) was straightforward (€10 return + bus from station to town centre) - spectacular amphitheatre and atmospheric town square for lunch. Great view from the tower in Messina cathedral too. Finally, Valletta was probably the jewel in the Western Mediterranean crown: a hop-on-hop-off bus took us to the old capital, Mdina - well worth a visit. The cathedral in Valletta commemorating the extraordinary legacy of the Knights of St John is a must see. This was our first cruise - it surpassed our high expectations. Hi Maurice, great words indeed, as a group we have previously visited the Amalfi coast and Pompeii ourselves which is why we didn’t visit this time, your correct it is amazing and so well preserved and definitely worth a trip to see, we also have been to Malta a few times and visited all over the main island and Gozo and once again the history here and places to visit are incredible, we loved the ship and loved the staff also, they were outstanding and very friendly each time we visited different areas, it’s a bit difficult to video everything when I’m with a group of friends and family but I think overall I didn’t do a bad job I guess. The stand out place we visited although very brief was Portofino! It was just incredibly beautiful and it’s a pity we only had a short stay there, I personally think that MSC tried to offer just a little too much on our excursion visiting three places in our allotted time, It should have been just the two. HI there, there are very limited entries each night so what we did was asked every staff member for a token into the club as soon as we got onboard, a lot of staff didn't know anything about it so you may have to persist, the token has a QR code on with a set of instructions you follow, I did video this but left it out of the video as its quite fun to follow the steps and didn't want to spoil it for folks, that seamed to work with us!! Hope you find one. Thanks for your comment and have a great trip its a beauty ship. Say hello to Frank and the guys in the Master of the Seas for us, tell them Big G & T say hi. G.

Hi! Thank you for the complete review! Me and my family are planning a Mediterranean Cruise on may 24. We have two options: Seaview or World Europe. For us, the Seaview route is a bit better. What do you think? Which one should we get? Ah, this will be our first time in a Cruise!

Hi thanks for your comment, to be honest having been on a MSC cruise I would go on either! If the Seaview is more to your liking stops wise then go on that ship, the World Europa is obviously newer and will reflect that with its appearance but like I said go with your gut instinct that always works for us. The only tour we took was to Portofino which was through MSC, we have friends going at the end of April on the very same cruise and I guess as it’s early in the season the cruise line are not doing the same trip. Everywhere else we went which we featured in this video we did on our own. Hope you liked the video and have a great time. G.

Hi Geoff. THanks for posting this video. Really sharp, crisp images. Very much appreciated. I heard Europe is one of the largest cruise ships in the world with over 6,000 passengers. Where are all the people in your video? Did you take this video when everybody is in port? I heard there are hoards & hoards of people everywhere & the ship is difficult to navigate with everybody bumping into each other. I also heard the crowds were terrible with everybody trying to get on & off the ship at the same time. What was your experience?

Hi there, yes I believe the Europa is one of the larger cruise ships as you say, so to answer your comments I primarily shot the footage when we first got on board but everything else in just through the day, the opening Buffett shots are in between when they reset the services, was it overcrowded? Not for us I don’t think, the couple we went with had the same reservations and afterwards couldn’t understand why they thought that, you see the ship is that big it’s really easy to find a quite corner away from the main groups of people, of course sea days the main pool area will be very popular because everyone is focused on relaxing and enjoying themselves, these are the times when you go off and look for a quiet spot, as for bumping into everyone nope never experienced that either, the getting on and off the ship is the easiest we have encountered and we have been with Celebrity and Royal Caribbean, no issues here either, main dining rooms were incredibly well organised and each time we went at our designated slot the room was never full, I guess if your savvy and go to the Buffett either at the beginning or the end of service these will be the less crowded times as it is going to be in the middle of service when everyone is there! but once again it was hardly any heart ache at all for us. Hope this helps you out and puts your mind to rest but our favourite place was the Zen bar and pools, adults only this was the place we navigated to most days when back on board as it was a nice and chilled area, it has two separate pools and caters for smoking and none smoking on either side of the ship, tip this bar is where we were given the tokens to gain access to the secret bar. Hope you have a great trip whatever ship you choose. G

@@user-lg7es5gr3w Hi again the standard of food was better than we were expecting especially in the main dining rooms to be honest, we read the reviews also but it’s pretty good in our book, not quite as good as the Celebrity Beyond but not to far away in all honesty, as I said in my previous reply there just isn’t hoards of people try to gain access all at once, your allowed a time slot and if you adhere to it you shouldn’t have any issues, again we dined a fair few times in there and it wasn’t packed once. G

Hi Mark, great question but my answer on this occasion is honestly I didn’t see any but that doesn’t mean you can’t! It’s just I didn’t see any. On our previous cruise we definitely saw lights from land when on our balcony so I guess it’s timing, most evenings we would get ready to go out and sit on the balcony but it was still light! Sorry I couldn’t answer this question but if I had to guess I’m sure you would be able to if you’re on the correct side when travelling. G.

Hi Brian, we only did the one to be honest which was the Portofino one which also took us to Camogli and Santa Margherita Ligure which was fine except because we had an emergency medical evacuation on the morning of our visit we were delayed approximately an hour which ate into the time we had on that trip.

Hi Rita, the church is called Cathédrale Basilique Sainte-Marie-Majeure, it is in Marseille, if you rewatch the Marseille walk about section again you will see them in the video too, beautiful Basilica, just wonderful. G.

Hi Sam, the ports you mention all were on time for us, the only port in which we had a delay was Genoa! which was delayed due to an medical emergency on board. Glad you like the video and thanks for you comments.

How was it with the booked tour? Was it acquired on board? Is there a bus at the exit of the ship waiting for you? how long does it take to portofino and the other locations? And how much are these excursions? are into account?

@miguelramos78 Hi there we booked the trip prior to boarding the ship on the internet, as to the time it took to get to Portofino it’s difficult to say because you visit the coastal town of Camogli first on the trip we selected, I might add that the trip we booked initially was cancelled and we had to rebook the trip we took however the initial trip didn’t include Camogli at all, you spend about 50 minutes here if my memory serves me correctly which is about enough time as there’s not a great deal To see apart from the church and a few cafes, our trip was delayed also because of an emergency evacuation of a passenger when we first arrived I’m guessing this had a knock on effect for us as our time in Portofino just wasn’t long enough at all so if your booking and there are a couple of trips to choose from and one is specifically Portofino then I would take that one, trip was well organised and there was a bus directly outside the ship ready to transport us, air conditioning too which is a must but overall we as a group on our three town trip felt there was just too much travelling and not enough time in each of the locations especially Portofino, hope this helps you out, btw our trip sold out very very quick so do make your mind up quickly it also compared to other cruise lines was very reasonable indeed, it’s a fabulous ship with a great crew! Enjoy G.

We originally planned with the cruise line just to go to Portofino but they deleted the tour a week before we travelled and had to hastily repick the tour we ended up on, do keep an eye on your bookings and have your notifications turned on as they can change at any moment...., we would have preferred our original booking which was more direct taking us to Portofino for longer but as it turned out after an emergency evacuation of an unwell passenger we didn't mind the tour we eventually took, given it was about an hour shorter....! enjoy your trip as its a fab ship.......G

The answer to your question "what camera did I use?" iPhone 14 Pro Max for the camera visuals. DJI OM 5 for stabilisation. I have used iPhones for the past few videos to be honest, the HDR 4k 60fps is just astonishing I feel. Have a great day! G.

@denissarsfield5573 So overall our experience was fantastic to be honest, having read many bad and good reviews about MSC we were a little apprehensive when we booked but from the entertainment and layout of the ship we loved it! Food wise it was better than we expected especially in the main dining areas, the trips are less expensive than other cruise lines such as Celebrity and Royal Caribbean of which we have sailed with, the room we stayed in was on par with Celebrity in our opinion and as for being over crowded well there are many places to drift off to if you wanted to escape the crowds, our favourite was the Zen pool areas at the back of the ship, the main pool area is of course going to be busy as that’s where most folk’s congregated but not so that it was an issue, we wouldn’t hesitate to sail again with MSC, hope this info helps in some way in you decision, one last piece of info about our trip was the staff were probably one of the best bunch of people we have ever sailed with especially in the “Masters of the Seas” bar as they were simply amazing. G.

When we finally got back from this cruise we compared both to be honest, in our opinion there wasn’t a great deal in it but in the end we both decided that the Celebrity Beyond just swayed it. G.

My mother and I were looking into going with MSC to Europe, but she read somewhere that we were obligated to plan excursions to get off the ship in the stops. Is this true or can we plan ourselves what we want to do during the stops?

Hi there Marianne, we used the MSC excursions only once and the rest of the time we organised ourselves, reading their terms and conditions they simply state that they are not responsible when you are off ship with other contractors for accidents, missing the sail away etc. Having been on other ships with Royal Caribbean and Celebrity I can tell you that MSCs trips were pretty well priced compared to the others we have been on but I guess it’s your prerogative, we simply did everything our selves, I know others on our cruise transported themselves to Pompeii when in Naples and others transported themselves when in Messina further down the coast on local transport. Hope this helps out a little. G.

That’s what we wanted to know when we sailed, So what we decided to do was ask the bar staff at the zen pool area and other areas about the club and after a while one of the bar staff gave us a few cards with QR codes on which had instructions on how to gain access, that’s all I will say as it was really fun once we started to follow the instructions. Good luck we had a blast and the cocktails are very good. Enjoy.
