The 660 is definitely one of the best engineered saws ever built by Stihl. Tad heavy in fuel consumption but it's a small price to pay for a saw that cuts incredibly fast. I've never stalled it, not once not even on big iron bark logs that are gummy and dry. That's what I bought it for though. One piece of advice. Don't waste your money on regular bar lube. Use 10 40 diesel motor oil. It lubricates the chain and teeth as they cut because the lower viscosity sprays better. Keeps the saw cleaner too.

The 441 is stopping and stalling as it has an early gen 1 m-tronic system in it. The computerized saws like your 441 that had the first version of the m-tronic system were notorious for stalling and hot start issues. A new fuel solenoid will fix your issues mate

Gday Will, that makes a lot of sense and I will take it back into the Stihl workshop and give them that steer. The thing is so frustrating! Thanks for watching our channel and hope you find it useful?

@@ClunieGarage did a new solenoid work then? What do you ask for, is it a special model of solenoid?

I run 20” bars on all my bigger saws except the 880 has a 25” bar. I find the bigger bars clumsy and unnecessary. They preform just a bit better with the smaller bar also. I did run the tungsten chains for a while. They are good In keeping sharp in dirty wood. But cut a fair bit slower. In the end I decided to have about 6 good sharp chains and 2 660’s when cutting firewood. When all those chains are blunt that’s enough for the day. Lol.

Gday Trent, yep the bigger bars are a touch tricky and the extra weight doesnt help. Might give the tungstens a go I think. I reckon I would be knackered after blunting 6 chains!!

Put a 36 inch bar, full comp on both and that 660 will run away from that 441. The wood you were cutting wasn't enough to pull either saw out of the upper end of it's power band. Big saws are for big bars, they usually dont spin fast enough in small diameter wood to show their torque.

G'day Justin, yes we are about to fit a big bar to the 660. Love that saw and we also have our eyes on the 500i.

@@ClunieGarage just curious, doesn't have to be exact but what is the price on that 500, ballpark figure. I was thinking of snagging one myself. I currently have 34 Stihl chainsaws and a few Dolmars, while they aren't quite as powerful as the Sthil saws of the same cc they are German made and I like them. Enough babble from me, I like your vids keep em coming. Thanks.

@@justinhiggins2210 G'day mate, the one I was looking at our my local dealer was $2,200. I love the Stihls and this one looks awesome. If you are on Facebook, have a look at the latest photos I posted with the 660 hard at work.

If you insist on cutting sleepers with a chain saw, borrow your neighbours.

To cut that rubbish with a clean 660 is a crime, it's about all a 441 is good for tho! Swap out the 441 for a 462
