I had a terrible way of wording my comments around the time I wrote this, I think what I meant to say was: “Ride me sideway” wasn’t originally on script, but after Doyle’s actor blurted it out during one of the rehearsals they decided to add it onto the final script.

I was in a pub in Aylesbury at around 10.30 in the evening and Pauline McLynn walked in after finishing at the local theatre. She is a most friendly and unassuming lady who willingly gave of her time to discuss Father Ted and Shameless. Very talented.

Father Ted was, is and will always be hilarious......a classic from day one.

I do wonder if she ad libbed going through the door judging by his reaction, whether scripted or not it was pure comedy gold.

I heard her say in an interview that she did ad lib the last one, and Dermot nearly cracked up.

"Ya big bollocks. Ya big hairy arse! Oh shocking stuff!" 😂

It sounded like Mrs Doyle started to crack up just before Father Ted ushered her through the door.

Mrs Doyle is one of the greatest characters in comedy history.

Hilarious, they are starting to crack up laughing when going through the door. This is probably mrs doyle's funniest scene of the show.

I don't think she says "It was terrible Father" I think she says "The door doesn't open" because if you look Ted moves the door the wrong way and she is discretely telling him to move it the other way so it will open.

So bloody funny lol u can see them smiling at each other as Mrs Doyle goes into the other room haha hard to keep a straight face. I love father ted!!

This is my favourite part of any episode, when she says "ill stick this pitchfork up your hole" I was bent over laughing then when she said "get your bollocks out of my face" I totally lost it then. 🍀 The two of them nearly lose it at 1:43.

I just happened to read an article in the March 5th 2018 issue of Home & Away on "Remembering The genius of "Father Ted" Dermot Morgan. So I had to watch an episode. What a really great comedy and I love the cast. Pauline McLynn is amazing, such a great talent herself. Now I want to see everything she's done.

I don't know how they kept a straight face that entire time!! I'm crying my eyes out right now!!

One of the best comedies ever made. Mrs Doyle was just unbelievably funny.. But nearly every episode of Father Ted was a classic. The song for Europe, my lovely horse .. Pat Mustard, sexiest man in Ireland. Comedy Gold...

Mrs Doyle: “It was a bit much for me, Father” Also Mrs Doyle: proceeds to use said language. 😂😂😂

This is classic. It's got to be one of the best scenes in the entire series. Listen to it with earphones and you'll hear Mrs Doyle corpse after she says "Get your bollocks out of my face". How they both didn't corpse long before they got to the door is beyond me. I read somewhere that that line was Pauline McLynn ad-libbing.

I don't know how the guys operating the cameras were coping with this,and all the other behind the scenes workers as well.Mrs. Doyle was really putting everything into this scene,I can imagine they were just about rolling on the floor with laughter.She looks quite old but in reality she is young.I love this show.

It was lucky her mouth was being blocked by Dermot's shoulder in that shot or else you'd see her laughing.

Nothing but pure class and comedy.

I'm currently in work trying to hold in the laughter.
