MRI Technologist Q&A: clinicals, work, school experience, & scanning alone!

Thanks to everyone who watched my day in the life as an MRI Technologist video! I had a few questions there, but that video was just meant to show what a day in my work life looked like. So I wanted to do a dedicated video answering a few of your questions. Hope you find this video helpful! & again please do not send me any DMs on instagram, but please feel free to leave them in the comments so I can have them all in one place for the next video. Thank you! :) I am open to answering general questions, but nothing too personal or private ☺️

Hi! A fresh rad tech here from another side of the world! I'm so thankful to have found your videos bcos it is so relatable. I'm keen in joining CT scan and still doing gen rad. It's so refreshing to see how the same job works overseas! Looking forward to binge watching all your videos!

Hi Mimi! currently just got laid off from my job in tech and debating if I should go back to school and go into the medical field. Been reading about radiology tech and found your video. I’m also from the bay and wanted to know what program you did and how is the job opportunities/pay as a radiological tech.

What made you go from nursing to MRI tech? I am deliberating between the two and would love to get your thoughts on it! Thanks for the vid!

Thank you for sharing your experience. What were the overall courses like, its challenges ? And now that you are in the workforce, did u think it is a good career choice. I'm debating between MRI and CT.

Ive heard that CT is more running around and all over the place as compared to MRI is more slower paced and in a way easier. I've spoken to a couple MRI techs but it's all preferences

Thank you so much for this video such helpful information. I’m currently in school and this helped out so much to make sure I get the most out of my clinicals. Which school did you attend?

Great video , I just got into the programs and will start in April , I really would like a 3day shift so I can still work on the side, people keep telling me that’s not likely , , but I know it’s best to ask someone who has experience like yourself . How can I land a 3 day , 12 hour shift

Hi Mimi! Would you say being an mri tech is low stress? Did you have a bachelors prior or just had the pre reqs and went into the mri program? Also would you say it wasn’t difficult finding a job as having mri only? Would love to chat since I’m looking into this career over nursing!

hi mimi, is it true Rad techs with an MRI creds make more than a MRI only tech ? i was told that mri only techs cap out at 48$ while a rad tech with mri cert caps out at 68$

Depends where you work and what state I assume. Can’t say anything for certain- I can only speak on my experience but in California we can make more than $68. Seen some techs make way more than that who only do MRI, but again. Just depends where you work, experience and other factors.
