I'm sure Roger took the idea from George originally. Every song from Parliament featuring "Sir Noze'devoid of Funk" such as Flash Light, Aqua Boogie, Theme From The Black Hole, Big Bang Theory, and a few others all feature that talk box as well as Zapp/Roger's style/sound first before the 80's. Heck George & Bootsy helped produce More Bounce To The Ounce with Rog when he and the gang were still with the Funk Mob. Hope y'all knew that.

The talkbox actually takes skill. You have to actually know how to play an instrument, where as Auto-tune is just a software that requires no skill at all.
