    Just got a pair of Creative SXFi Air headsets, being a lifelong Bose headset user, I can confidently say that this is a far superior pair of headsets as compared to my Bose QC. There is no reason that Creative headsets should be selling at half the price of Bose or other brands. The only complaint is, I feel for such an excellent pair of headsets, they should also come with a quality case and packaging.

    Microsoft didn't "kill" audio per say. They stopped support for X-Fi specific content as software was switching to more open source content... you can play all X-Fi content by simply adding in an Alchemy profile. It's simple... this product has nothing to do with this.

It sounds fantastic playing games from my computer also with my Galaxy tab 8 & Samsung Galaxy s4, however it has a glitch with a static sound from Samsung Galaxy S8. I emailed customer support and they try to identify the problem & told me that they are working with the firmware to fix the problem. One other thing it can't be used and charge the phone at the same time, also it can't be connected to the TV. Just dropped my pre-order, Merry Christmas to me. I'm a big fan of Creative Labs, but every promise of holographic audio has fallen flat. Holographics, only two good haircut & matchstick demos; Dolby Headphone, please; A3D, hahaha; Q Sound, a flange effect that maybe might trick you twice. Only Creative's THX TruStudio Pro even came close to proper consistent convincing positional 3D audio. I truly hope this is everything it appears to be, and will be adopted by everyone.

    There’s a reason why Creative is in the state it is in. It’s because of products like this, and here’s why. I don’t want this in a USB stick, nobody does. This need to be build into the product itself. I want it in a motherboard, in an iPad, in a console, in a headphone, in an Android phone, and in the TV. There is a reason why RealTek, a nobody computer in the audio field, totally dominate PC audio. They simply get to the customers first.

That's the only impressive thing about this product package anyway: the HRTF customization which is done quickly and easily through a smartphone app by taking a few pictures of your face and ears.

    I think there are some scenarios where their method of determining the correct profile to use won't be too accurate if relying strictly on images of a person's ears and facial features. For example, when I was young I used to get severe ear infections, and one of the worst actually burst inside my ear and I now have a hole inside my ear that was left behind from this event (it was extremely painful by the way, just in case anyone was wondering; I highly recommend avoiding them if possible) and because of this, my hearing in that ear is very different. I'm actually able to hear some sounds and frequencies that people with normal hearing cannot and some sounds/frequencies/ranges sound slightly or very different in that ear vs the other, especially on the low end (bass). An image of the outside of my ears and face would not convey this information to their software and therefore I probably wouldn't get the best results without something more extensive to analyse my hearing. Other factors, such as a person's age, the shape of their inner ear (the parts not visible from the outside), and even the pattern, amount, thickness etc. of ear hair (gross, I know, but it does affect a person's hearing) all play a role in how a person experiences sound, and while age may be approximated via their image database, I doubt those other factors will be accounted for very well. Ideally, if they had some kind of sonar tool to analyze a person's inner ear structure (which I'm guessing is what the microphones were for that they mentioned before), that would probably be superior for configuring the device's profile to tune it to each individual's hearing/capabilities etc.

    How deep is this..... hole in your ear? There is a chance that they won't be able to capture your true HRTF, even with mic calibration due to this. The advantage of the ear scanner is mass appeal though, since the mic calibration is a long tedious process.

Not to mention the stupid dongle... I already have a DAC. In fact, most audiophiles do. I'm just looking for a virtual surround solution so just give me some software and I'll use your silly little smartphone app to take pictures of my ears if that's what it takes to take advantage of your AI matching algorithm to find my personal HRTF.

    Did he mention at the 5 minute mark that he had a modelling with microphones in his ears? How do we get that modelling for ourselves? Or are we restricted to the facial scans? As far as I've heard for binaural, microphone calibrated profiles are close to 100%. Whereby facial scans are about 60%? Is this a way to get an unfair review that the consumers will not get? Similar to reviews of Binned CPU chips that can overclock higher than what retail customers will never get. Definitely sounds unfair and fishy.

    To be fair, of course they'd give reviewers mic calibration, since they are.... well... reviewers.... However, the mic calibrated profiles are difficult to get, and probably will be a very low demand service, due to how tedious the process is, it would be impractical. They did tell me, though, that there might be a chance we can opt for mic calibrated profiles in the future (Don't quote me). Personally, I see potential in the product though. As they capture more HRTFs, they claim the ear scanner AI will give more accurate results from having a larger database of ear/face shapes.

  • @LearnYDF

    @LearnYDF

    5 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for the reply but take note, they do not recommend you sharing the account with data from somebody else's ears as it would ruin the association algorithm. The mic calibrated profile will now be linked to your ear shape. Therefore if you use your current profile with your ear shape, the AI will just apply something close to your mic calibrated profile again and again. Try a new fresh profile and just take a few scans of your face and do a comparison with them. Do both those scans sound different or the same? After all, the scans are just you sending your picture and the AI just drawing lines on them and making a custom profile close to the set of mic calibrated profiles that they have associated with the ear shapes of those people as well. To be fair, the reviewers should get a fresh face only profile. Not a profile that now has a mic calibrated setup that has now been associated with their face scans. Therefore, even making a new account, they might just receive a mic calibrated profile out of it. As the AI has associated the 2D face scan with it. Very very confusing to explain.

  • @LearnYDF

    @LearnYDF

    5 жыл бұрын

    Then it is false marketing. Reviewers get a customized experience that the majority will never experience. And will therefore argue that it is good while leaving the majority confused as to why they think this poor audio sounds good when it doesn't to them. Close to 100% accurate mic calibration vs a very variable 0-60% accurate 2D scan of your face picture is in no way a fair comparison especially since majority won't get them. Creative labs don't even have pop up shops. Only online. So how can you even get one in your state? Would the mic calibration offer be just as expensive as your Amp or even more? Those are all just ifs. But not a fact like what we see here.

    @@LearnYDF I live in Singapore. But beside that, they mentioned to me on facebook that they might provide the service for mic calibration in the future, but we'll see about that since currently they are focusing on the super x fi rollout to the US. Some people who collected the Amp have reported that they could get a mic calibrated profile for a slightly higher price. I have the Amp actually, but I do have the agree that turning on the SXFI effect does kind of comprimise the sound quality of the headphone. Plus, I don't remember there being an option for the mic calibration when I went :(

    I won't fall for this. I fell for the Live 5.1, the Audigy 2 zs, the Zxr, the G1, and was really considering the AE-5(basically a headphone amp) at one point. There is no way that little shit dongle is going to add $150 worth of quality to games, movies or music. Holographic audio. Do you know that a hologram isn't real? It just looks real. Aureal 3d had the best surround sound I have ever heard in games back in the 90's, but guess who bought them out and suppressed the technology? I loved EAX, it still is awesome if you can get the hardware mixing working on the older titles that supported it. If Creative wants to come back to how they used to be, they need to find their new "EAX." That would have to be full spatial surround sound for games both horizontal and vertical, along with sound bouncing off surfaces. Ever been walking down a hallway approaching a door open on your left only to hear the sound from that room in your right ear because it was bouncing off the hallway on your right? That is what they need to do. It can go perfectly with Geforce RTX ray tracing tech reflecting things out of view. Get creative, Creative.
