Mr. Pete's Shop Tour
Ғылым және технология
During are drive north up to IMTS, we stopped in Utica, Illinois to visit with Mr. Pete and see his shop. We had a great time hanging out together as well grilling some dinner together a couple nights and even going on a hike in Starved Rock State Park. If you don't know who Mr. Pete is please visit his channel and give him a sub. He's a retired machine shop teacher and publishes weekly machine shop educational videos to help others learn about the machining trades.

Mr. Pete is the real thing. What you see is what you get without pretense.
Two legends of machinist KZreadrs. Just missing This Old Tony's pair of hands.
You two gentlemen are my mentors. Never met either one of you but I love you both. Thank you SO much for all the knowledge you have been generous enough to share with me. God Bless
This is one epic video by 2 great machinists of 2 generations and it's not out with the old and in with the new, but I'm guessing more than a century of craftmanship that each can teach the other about. Thanks for a wonderful guys.
Mr. Pete was the first KZreadr I found when I was trying to figure out my new-to-me Atlas lathe years ago. Then I found some young dude named Abom who was doing his very first videos and obviously nervous on the camera, but he knew his trade extremely well. I've learned learned so much from both of you gentlemen, and I'm grateful to you both. Glad to see that you have become friends.

There are really about a Dozen of them. Both Keiths, RobRez, Stephan Gotswinter, The guy in Austria, Engineers ???, Bbloc, stan and the Casters: Windy Hill and others. I'm a builder, use all of their skills. 👍
Mr Pete a living national treasure!
I enjoy both channels. Great to see two friends visiting each other and sharing time together. You both have inspired to be a better machinist and helping others to be their best.
Mr. Pete is an amazing Guy!
Mr Pete is a treasure
What a wonderful workshop! Awesome set up Mr. Pete. Thanks Abom79 for making this vid.
Two of my favorite You Tube creators! Great to see the both of you in the same video.
Im 63 and I love your generation mr Pete, same my relatives were from and had three uncles in WWII - great people and real Americans with old school ethics morals and so glad to see youre is such good health. Adam I wish I could have met you and Abby when you were in my home town of Springfield illinois at the Lincoln home. God bless all you guys stay healthy and stay safe.
@7:48 Funny thing. I have a TON (almost literally) of Craftsman tools (before the Chinesium ones). My Mother and Father both worked for Sears in the early '50s (that's how they met). He used to joke that everything in his house came from Sears, Including his wife! I ALSO worked for Sears for three years (in the mid '70s) to pay for my ASMET degree! Sad how a once great company is about to go Tango Uniform! I knew when they got rid of the catalog ordering it was on the decline. 😠
This warmed my heart... I love Mr Pete. and everything that hes done for the sport.
Mr. Pete is a gem.. and so are you. The respect you showed him goes so far into how we should treat not only our elders, but everyone. You showed a true appreciation even though the machines may be smaller than your shop. You recognized the knowledge, precision and time. This was a good one for us. Thank you.
thanks mr pete.. fantasic shop.. al that nice clean machins.. rely nice. thans adam abby ant mr pete. gr from holland
Really a nice video recorded in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Very fine to give Mr Pete that much space to tell! Haha, making anything but money on a shaper... Time 17:00.... "Lots of toolboxes" . Yes. What's in them? No marking on the drawers.... Search until found as I do with my 12 drawers? Joking! What space does Mrs Pete have? Joking! Very nice pictures from the walk in the nature. Hey. Where did the grill go....? Joking!
If I was living in IL; I would visited @mrpete222 . He is a treasure 😊❤
Been watching and learning from Mr Pete for a long time. Since the beginning pretty much. Back when he never chose to have the camera looking his way. Just a Gem and a great teacher.
I had the honor to grow up with many Mr. Pete educators. I am over 75 years old now, and I remember much of what I was taught by those people. I fear that Mr. Pete might not be replaced, and it makes me very, very sad.
How cool is that.... Man this one warmed my heart.
Two legends folks....what a treasure! Thanks Adam for doing this video
Still a pretty spry old geezer. I can imagine that shop. I wish mine was as neat and organized.
Two of my favourite channels, coming together.
Nothing brings a smile on my face more than seeing manual machinery. I ran a big shaper back in the early 70s at the Voc Tech I think it was by Cincinnati. I've been following TubalCain and you as well Adam for quite a while now off/on.. Thanks so much for the video..
Very cool to see you both together. Many greetings from Germany.
You guys are awesome. Thanks for all of your hard work and dedication. Mr Pete and Adam.
I have a question. Why have we begun to remove Machining from High Schools in our country? It seems we are removing the skills that young men and woman need in life to build confidence heading into this tough world we live in and sending them out without a single skill needed to survive. Autoshop, Metal Shop, Wood Shops all getting shut down. It's a shame really.

probably because it adds an enormous amount of liability rider to a local school board insurance coverage. I took HS shop (and loved it) back in 1983... we made flat blade screwdrivers and had to heat treat them in an enormous 1960s era gas fired furnace. Mr. Boyer (our Magnum P.I. clone teacher) said, "when I light it, don't look into it!" One guy did and singed all his facial off, especially eyebrows... nuff said... he was a moron but also the least common denominator. Instead of dropping our of school and getting a job, the rest of us had to endure his humor!

I graduated in 2002 and we didn't take no machinist type metal shop we took welding they had a small couple week class on CNC Machining but no manual Machining work
It's so beautiful to see these legends visit each other.
Mr Pete is a absolute legend
Love what you do MR. Pete and never miss an episode Abomb. You are both great men and people. Thank you for sharing your knowledge the way you do. I know it's a LOT of work. Both of you do a great job! Just know it's appreciated and it's NOT at all taken for granted.
Adam, when I watched the video of Mr. Peterson interviewing you, I sent Mr. Peterson a message suggesting that you interview him. He said that was a great idea, but that you had already left. He never let it slip that the video interview had already been done! I have to say, that your two channels are my favorite ones to watch. As I've told Mr. Peterson, all through Junior High and High School my favorite classes were metal shop and Mr. Peterson reminds me so much of my shop teachers back then. Those classes were the only reason I wanted to go to school and the teachers were the best. By the way, I'm 70 years old now and have my own home shop. While I may have the equipment in my shop, I don't think I'll ever have the skill either one of you possess!
Wow..A couple of legends..thanks for making your videos available for us all to enjoy..you have both entertained me for many years now....Thanks!!!!!.
Hang'n out in the shop with Abom and Mr Pete awesome video

The wifes Christmas present 2 years ago was a brand new Gerstner for her Jewelry. She loves it!
I'll feel privileged if one day I visit the teacher Mr.Pete. Adams is a great man too.
The tool box is a Windsor. That’s why there’s no Gerstner label.

He has a video or Pictures on the Bridgeport. The column was carried by 4-5 Strong Men down stairs.
Hi Adam Both you and Mr. Pete have taught me so much over the years. It's so nice to see you guys together. I had that micrometer for the South bend mill that was in my grandfather's tools. Had no idea of what it was for or what it went to. I saw Mr. Pete's video when he got the mill and sent him the micrometer. Thanks to you both for being good teachers.
Howdy fellahs! Thanks for the constant transfer of knowledge from an old lady just learning.

Great video , two of youtubes best. Mr Pete you have a awesome work shop and garage/foundry. Those machines you have are treasures.
Mr. Pete is a classic ! Very good tour. I've enjoyed watching him since his first videos where all we would see were his hands and hear his voice that would sound like Jimmy Stewart.
