Feeny was such a well written character. This character is an inspiration to teachers everywhere! I'm a teacher and when I think about what influences any desire I have left of teaching, I honestly think of this character. And William Daniels was perfect for this role!

Feeny is smart. You can argue it’s just convenient writing but instead of immediately responding He said “I assumed” “mr Matthews claimed” instead of outright denying Which ultimately led to her confessing herself.

Moral of the story, I actually have a few: A) Never cheat, obviously! B) Think with your head and not your genitalia. C) Find creative ways to help you study for tests when old methods feel useless. As someone who's discovered better ways learning and studying in school that actually make it feel a lot less like a mundane chore, like using a digital voice recorder for lectures, especially for getting certain material in class that, quite frankly, many students would often overlook or neglect to write down, or even using flashcards over and over with Jeopardy style questions to help me study for and pass exams, I still believe our education system is extremely flawed and biased and doesn't fully measure one's potential in life.

I agree with Feeny at 3:33. You gotta condescend the people who condescend you. Label the labelers. Especially, as it is in this case and mine, when it comes to intelligence and ignorance. To give context, my boss was upset I had signed up for a one-person shift. I'll admit, I am much better with a helping hand and guide, but come on, that's no excuse for being insensitive. One of our student leader's responsibilities is organizing who works which shifts on the schedule, and my boss scolded him for not noticing I had signed up for a one-person shift. When she asked him if she thought I could do the shift, I answered for him with a firm "yes," because I felt belittled by her. She said she didn't think so, was all "I've told you not to sign up for shifts by yourself, I've been very clear about that, I don't know how much clearer I can get for you to listen" (something like, that, so I'm not perfectly quoting her), and she told me I need someone there to give me instructions and guide me. She had also questioned me for getting the wrong linens and putting the chafing dishes in the room they weren't supposed to be in, when, long story short, I was merely doing what I was accustomed to. Now one day, my dyspraxic coworker makes the coffees all watery, and my boss questions on how she could do that and lectures her for taking on a task she wasn't ready for. Later, when I saw her coming back (no eye contact), I deliberately told my coworker, "Look, [boss] doesn't understand learning difficulties, so you'll have to be patient with how she reacts to your _innocent_ mistakes." Then I pretended to be shocked and awkward when I turned around and saw my boss. Now yeah, she resented my comment and felt as if I was implying she was naïve and superficial...the same way Feeny did that to Tori. Again, you gotta condescend the people who condescend you and fight prejudice with prejudice.

I never knew William Daniel's did this show, probably because it wasn't widely publicised here in the UK. I know him better for being the heart surgeon in St Elsewhere and of course, the voice of KITT in the original Knight Rider 80's show. 90 episodes, in each one but took no screen credit, just did the voice.

Anyone else miss the days when this was the type of teachers we had. These were the lessons we were taught. When we were taught to be more than just a victim or to not care about anything?! I’m so grateful that Mr Feeny is fictional because my god what a horrible fate to be a teacher that dedicated to their job for decades only to see a world like ours emerge as his reward.

@@JohnSmith-zw8vp Judging by how dumbed down and nihilistic gen z is…….not nearly enough of them if there are. A generations failures can be attributed to two people. Parents and teachers. A generation that is both idiotic and shallow didn’t just spring into being anymore than the cry baby generation I’m from did. It’s a result of parents and teachers failing to mold the next generation properly. So if these teachers are still around they’re either too few to even matter, or so jaded and cynical that they don’t care anymore.

Dear Mr Feeny I know you’re a fictional charictor and all but while I dont agree with the flippidness way he said it Eric is right they’re just grades they arent the most accorete way of messuring what one knows much less understand the matteral. I have ADHD Dyslexia and Dysgraphia plus a defiant personality that doesnt take ‘cuz the state told you to take it’ for an answer. You cant know a persons true intellegence by looking at there letter grade take Eric he is street smart and very social savvy. my point is that you need to know the person personally to truely gage their intelagence.
