Mr. Bucky Bought The Copper Chef

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

We've been cooking with the square Copper Chef skillet and induction cooktop for about a week now. It works okay but does have a few issues. It does not brown in the corners and the temperature showing on the control does not give the temperature inside the pan. It will require special cookware but does work with cast iron skillets.
Video on first copper skillet I purchased and returned is on my channel I just can't seem to find it.
• A New Skillet (a viewer found the video)
Wet Dumpling Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
3 tablespoons shredded butter
A little less than 3/4 cup buttermilk or whole milk
Have a total of 4 cups of liquid in the skillet boiling before dropping in dumplings. Cook for 20 minutes with lid in place and do not lift lid until dumplings are done.
Thanks for watching.

You made me laugh when you told how Mr. Bucky presented this copper set for three different holidays.. It reminded me of the discussion on one of your video's that he said he did not know what to get you for Christmas but couldn't you just buy what you want and then say it is from me... Love you both so much!

We renovated our kitchen 7 years ago and I decided to purchase a full size induction cooktop by Bosch. It was expensive, but I've never regretted that decision!!! I have 5 cook areas...1 small, 3 medium, and 1 extra large sizes. The largest cook area will bring a 12 quart pot of water, with the lid on, up to a full rolling boil in 90 seconds! Every burner heats up so quickly..it was a learning curve. And, I did have to purchase some new pans...A few of my old ones did work...some from the food network stars worked, along with the cast irons, and my old pressure cooker pots. I just make sure to check the pan info now before I purchase any pans. When I bought my cooktop, the magnified pans were hard to find, where as now you can find them in most stores. I hope I never have to go back to a regular cooktop!

I bought one of those pots w/o the induction top. What I found was that the bottom of the pot, the magnetic ring gets unbelievably hot, so much so that it actually melted a cutting board that I've used as a hot plate for years! I couldn't believe it just melted into the board. So, a word of caution...be careful where you rest the pot if it's hot. I did have some sticking problems. I don't use it much at all.

I found the Copper Chef 9" pot set at Ollie's recently for only $19.99. It doesn't have the induction burner (I have a Nuwave version), but it has the lid, fryer basket, steaming tray and a set of 3 knives. I didn't want to spend full price, but I thought it was a good buy at less than $20. I really like my Nuwave induction cooker--I have a lot of pots that work with it and use it for my regular pressure cooker all the time now. My electric stove cycles on and off and this maintains a steady temperature, which is a must for a pressure cooker!

I have the pan set with rack and basket and two knives. Came from Ollies for under twenty dollars. I had two other skillets given to me. A few months ago i bought the Copper Chef induction burner and it came with the two handled large pan with lid. I ordered this from Sam's Club and at the time was on sale for thirty eight dollars and some change. I love it. I have several other pans that work on it too. I have cast iron but will not use them. They are way too heavy. I am fixing a kitchenette in my upper level of my home for me to have. I like that I can sit and use my burner. I am 84. Really do love it. I never keep spray oil on hand. Phyllis, You probably already know by now there are several grades of stainless steel.... I used to be a Mortician and we would use stainless steel caskets in some cases, and some would hold a magnet and some would not due to the classification number of the steel.... Several years back, I wanted to buy an electric hot plate like they used to have way back when I was a kid.... I couldn't find one, but they were selling some modern ones so I bought one..... At that time I wasn't even aware of induction cooking.... Anyways, I brought it home and tried to cook with it.... I was using aluminum pans.... I left the pan on the burner for an hour and all that happened was it got just a little warm.... I was so upset, I lost it and threw the brand new induction hot plate into the dumpster.... Later I learned about induction heating and felt pretty stupid for getting angry and throwing the brand new burner in the dumpster.... I'm usually up on such things, but that was completely new to me....

Hi miss Phyllis My husband bought the induction hob and I thought oh boy something else to put in my cupboard. He has a habit of buying these type of items and I have recently given away a bread maker, juicer, food processor, multi mixer, halogen cooker and air fryer. All of which I already had in my kitchen. I was delighted to realise that like you it cooks faster and in my case very evenly I. Can heat soups etc in under one minuet and make soup from scratch in under twenty, like you I had to buy pans but it gets used most days I'm going to be looking for something like your pan as well as my hob, could in be its in uk temperatures rather than American seeing as how quick it's cooking chicken

Very nice of Mr Bucky to buy this, you are blessed. I guess I'm too old fashioned, I prefer my cast iron on my gas stove. I think in this case, it's just one more appliance to find space for, & to have the fan running constantly, is a deal breaker. We don't have much space in our RV. Speaking of RVs looking forward to any upcoming travels you & Mr Bucky may go on

LOVED your video! Looks like a GREAT cook-top. Bless your loving husband for his thoughtfulness. I purchased the NWGold Cook-top a couple years ago, and LOVE induction cooking. Nice and cool when cooking. I don't even use my stove anymore. It does take some getting used to, but after awhile, you will fall in love with it. I find 270° better than 275° sometimes, to prevent burning if on for awhile. Even if stuck a little, (too hot a temp) it cleans as good as new all the time. I later purchased a 12" everyday pan with lid, from Amazon, and so astonished to see the price now is so much higher from a year ago. I am wanting to get the 12.5" non stick copper pan from Groupon when available again. The bottom of my pans are the same as yours. (The dots) Those induction cook-tops are supposed to use less energy than stoves, and keeps the kitchen cooler when cooking. LOVE to watch your cooking, and look forward to more. "Especially" now, when you use your induction cook-top. Hope you enjoy it. Is this the one you were talking about that you returned? kzread.info/dash/bejne/gnhhw5SAfNeWiag.html

Thanks to you, I was able to find it from what you taught me in the video you made of how to find certain videos and I am so grateful to be using it now. :-) Yes, you were probably too tired and ready to call it a day. BB (butter burns) so a person has to careful if using it on high heat of the induction burner. I use a little olive oil with it, that also has to be used with care. (Low smoke point) Coconut oil is good for sautéing.

I'm glad you showed that the center of the cookware does not attract the magnet. We have a different brand induction single-burner cooktop and we bought a 8" Copper Chef pan for my husband cooking his eggs. Because the pan is not fully magnetic across the entire bottom of the pot, my induction top gives an error code and shuts off. We wanted to test to see before we bought an induction stove that we enjoy cooking on the induction top and for an educational purpose. So I am glad we did not go with the Copper Chef induction cook top as I am sure that the only induction cooktop likely without an error with their pans is THEIRS! No harm done, we kept the receipt for the pan we bought. But I did take a magnet with when I went shopping. The only part of the pan you can test is the outer ring due to the manufacturer's packaging has the entire middle hidden with cardboard. Unless induction pans work on any standard induction system, not one developed and for use just with Copper Chef pans, you will have a lovely set of pans which set in your kitchen cabinet. I read about a man who bought a Frigidaire Induction range who claims his pans are "induction ready" and is trying to fight with Frigidaire that their stove is defective. No, I think the pans are proprietary for Copper Chef induction cooktops. However, if the pan is centered I get the error, if it is off center slightly, it works. Sometimes then I can re-center it and it work. But would I get it to work on a stove we intend to buy? All I can say, is, outside of one pot like you have, which is stainless steel but with a core of aluminum, all my other pans work as expected as they are stainless steel through and through. I do not have a cast iron skillet, silly me. Let the buyer beware. If Copper Chef would be a good purchase for a set of pan to do induction with, I'd stay with other brands which don't have the quirky non-magnetic part in the center. Even if you can get it to work, am I then making my induction cooktop last less time? There is a reason for an error code, and it is self-protection. Outside of that the cookware is attractive and the non-stick coating is fine. I am just not sure it is really good for all uses of induction cooking unless you have the burner made for these pans. I'd rather not risk ruining my new induction burner so I will take the pan back to the store. I think we need to go to a store with more selection of pots and pans than Walmart and see what we can find for my husband's fried sunny-side up eggs and omelette-pan. But for using in the RV, I think your husband got you the hot setup. It is more square than my cooktop, mine is a Rosewill and it is basically a knockoff of Duxtop's main model.

Our family always had the flat rolled out dumplings, also very good, I think they are pennslavania Dutch. You use regular flour, a little lard and you rolled them out flate. Cut into squires ,and drop in a couple at a time, into boiling broth, they float to top when done, Baba would put a little buttermilk in the broth, some times she would put pieces of chicken bacon k in it or serve chicken on the side. (So Good) I like these kind to ,but she would put some cut up carrots, cut up potatoes and at very last at the end throw in some frozen peas! Some people call it potpie! All's good, when it is chicken and dumplings, you could probably write a cookbook on just that!

As usual, I loved, loved your video, Phyllis...I hope you and Mr. Bucky are doing really well too. It makes you wonder about that copper pan, why they don't make the bottom have a square magnetic base, instead of the round, beings the pan is square...it would make things cook better on the outside edges that don't brown or cook as well with this round circle. Anyway, I am so happy to see you again...you are always so sweet and soothing to listen to. God Bless you and Mr. Bucky!!

My mother and grandmother both made wet dumplings but never made just the dumplings, but when they made beef stew or chicken soup they would always wait till the end then dropped the batter in the boiling stew or soup they always turned out great nice and soft, not doughy nice in firm you could bite into them but never chewy we had a large family Adding the dumplings to soups, Stewart, and even some casseroles was a tasty way to help fill us up

I don’t have the induction part, but I got the pan with deep fryer a few months ago. Love it!! Can almost just wipe it out with a paper towel like I do my iron skillet. And I got it on sale!!!

This recipe is way different than my dumpling recipe. I'll need to try this on evening. As far as the induction system i did not like the one my husband gave me for Christmas one year. He was trying to help me in the kitchen bc i was going through menopause and the Heat in the kitchen was driving me insane LOL. I gave it a good try. But in the end of the month that I used it I was not happy with this system. Therefore I stopped using it. I think I'm a little spoiled to my cookware I have had for years. I have Towncraft stainless and castiron. As far as the heat from the cooking I'll just turn a fan on lol. I do love my hubby for trying.

I donated all my calphalon stainless and anodized aluminium pans to the veterans because not induction ready. Bought a set of emeril pro clad made by al clad of amazon years ago. Didn't want to sink the big cost like before, pans work great. Now i mostly cook in my air fryer so pans just sit in cabinets.

also here is some information about why a magnet will stick to some stainless steel and not other. There are several families of stainless steels with different physical properties. The magnetic properties of stainless steel are very dependent on the elements added into the alloy. A basic stainless steel has a ‘ferritic’ structure and is magnetic, formed from the addition of chromium - it can be hardened through the addition of carbon, making it ‘martensitic’. However, the most common stainless steels are ‘austenitic’ - these have a higher chromium content and nickel is also added. It is the nickel which modifies the physical structure of the steel and makes it theoretically non-magnetic. The cast iron pan is ferritic and is magnetic. Okay I'm sorry this is maybe too scientific but the consequences are as follows. Most cookware is made out of the austenitic or non-magnetic stainless steel. But the covering on a refrigerator is the martensitic type and it will attract magnets.

You can tell Phyllis is a smart lady. She did some intuitive troubleshooting/research with her magnet on different types of metal objects and figured out what was going on. That's scientific thinking.

Thank you. .I tried making some the other day..left the lid off for 10 min..then put it on for 10 min..didn't stir as suggested and it just turned into muck. Still tasted great but was not the nice fluffy dumplings I wanted. A friend of a friend of mine made dumplings 45 years ago and used a pot of beans. Dumplings were huge and tasted fantastic, wish I would have asked her how to make them.

  • @PhyllisStokes

When making the dumplings you will need to leave the lid on and do not stir or raise the lid - if you do it will cause the dumplings to fall and become gummy inside. Stirring will break up the dumpling and the whole thing will turn into "muck" as you described. One other suggestion on making dumplings, let your chicken pieces be on the bottom to help hold up the dumplings. Once you get the technique going you will be making dumplings all the time and loving them. Remember it's the sudden change of temperature that causes dumpling to not turn out right and this happens when you raise the lid or even add more liquid. Have the water at a slow boil put the lid on and leave them for maybe twenty minutes and watch what happens. Good luck.

Great show as usual Phyllis, thank you very much. I bought one of those copper chef pots and base too. I also found that the bottom of the pan sticks and even burns things, and cooks mainly in the middle circle of the bottom. I have some physical limitations that make it difficult to stand for more than just a few min. So I use this pot and base while sitting down at my coffee table. Makes cooking a possibility for me. So I love my copper pot and base, flaws and all, lol. Phyllis, I love your personality and show, so real and easy to follow. Great recipes too !!
