The original exam supervisor was Rudolph Walker, who would then go on to appear in EastEnders as Patrick Trueman about a decade later. The exam supervisor here is John Savident, who then appear ed in Coronation Street as Fred Elliott just 3 years later. Love how both supervisors were played by actors who would later appear in two rival soap operas lol

Bean's reaction at 7:17 reminds me of myself during the final exam for one of my Master's degree courses back in the day. The exam had six problems and we had two hours to complete it. I got stuck in the final problem and couldn't even comprehend what was asked for a long time. Then, with little over 5 minutes left, I finally understood the problem and realized I knew the solution. I managed to rapidly scribble a somewhat structured solution and even draw a figure to support my answer, finishing just seconds before the time was up and pens had to be put down. Results of the exam? I got 35 out of maximum 36 points :)

He's the bestest comedian. I literally love his comedy 🤣. Every time you see him he puts a huge smile in your face ❤️.

An ability that cannot be expected from any other actor ever again. It's hard to explain the feeling of hearing that background music. I'm still 31 years old and when I hear that music I feel like I'm old now because my childhood was spent very happily because of this man

I've been a long time fan of Mr Bean and I've never heard or seen of these remakes before until literally this moment

As a math instructor I can really appreciate this. It also is quite a fact that the words "Trigonometry" and "Calculus" still instill fear in people who have seen it long time ago. Math does leave its impact...:)

Classic. Real classic. As I remember, this was the first scene from the first part of the very first episode of Mr Bean. Didn’t know there was a short film adaptation until now.

In November 1991, it was announced 20th Century Fox had a feature film adaptation of Mr. Bean in development. They remade two Mr. Bean sketches into short films: Mr. Bean Takes an Exam and Mr. Bean Goes to a Première and attached them to their theatrical releases.

You are a hero. I remember seeing this in the theater in front of the Addams Family and it floored me. I could never find it because it's not the same on the show.

@@cristiandiaz7994 I think it was supposed to be a Trigonometry exam he was supposed to take. Not sure of the reason. Maybe it was for some kind of adult school thing. I'm not sure if it has ever been specified if he had an official job. I know for the US movie he was supposed to some kind of museum guard or something like that for the painting of Whistler's Mother.

That's how I met Mr Bean. My father had rented a vhs tape of Hot Shots Part Deux and this started playing. I was confused at first. Didn't know if I had the wrong tape or if it was part of the movie, but started watching. It was so funny, I laughed so much, that almost died of asphyxia.

Rowan's Acting is Absolutely same and Fabulous... But the scenario can't compete with the older one

"Mr Bean Goes to a Premiere" appeared on UK rental VHSes of "Hot Shots!" Similarly, "Mr Bean Takes an Exam" accompanied some UK VHS (rental?) versions of "Hot Shots! Part Deux." Both were open matte-ish 4x3, and are currently on KZread in that form.

The whole time I never knew that the first part of the pilot to “Mr. Bean” was remade into a short film. But this was still enjoyable and hilarious either way. It would’ve been cool if they included the scene towards the end where Mr. Bean went “woah, mummy” and started crying. 😂 Other than that, it was awesome.

Fantastic, thank you for sharing. Like most people in the comments, I never knew this version existed. I gather it was made to be shown in cinema's in the early 1990's to further 'test the water' and grow the brand awareness of Mr Bean overseas with international audiences. Interesting to see that Rowen's ex wife Sunetra Sastry was also the make up artist for this episode after originally working with him during the production of the Blacker series at the BBC. John Savident coincidentally also appeared with Rowan during the un-broadcasted pilot episode of The Blackadder. UK audiences will know him most as Coronation Street's Fred Elliott

Legends know that the old version of this was so funny

This looks like it was produced with the intention of being shown before films in American cinemas in 1991. It's the same production team as the TV series but HBO co-distributed it based on the credits. I guess this was a way of introducing Mr. Bean to Americans? Very curious footnote for the history of Mr. Bean.

Nope, this is WORSE than the tv version. Theres some hiccups or weird transitions like the throwing pen missing, the guy instant reaction when bean scooted next to him as opposed to a sec delay, the rush shouting from the examiner at the end, the missing alarm clock and its set off.

I still remember it was cold night of December 2008 when i was with my cousin watching on tv.. It was that time when the 3G and 4G in Mobile wasn't here it was only tv and computers were the source of entertainment ... Ahhh sigh... It was so relief..

Never saw this one before. Still enjoyed. Mr bean is like Tom and Jerry. Never get old.

That's the worst exam nightmare anyone could ever have😰😰
