The First Quadrifoglio SUV! And it’s the Fastest SUV in the World! Welcome back to RBR, and here is that very fast mid-sized SUV you may have heard whispered on bated breath of petrol heads; the one that takes the class leading formula of the Gillian Quadrifoglio Sports Sedan, and applies it to the popular SUV niche. Alfa Romeo’s new Stelio Quadrifoglio!!
I thoroughly covered the history of the Quadrifoglio brand going into the Giulia, going back to the original of the badge with Enzo Ferraro, Ugo Sivochi and crew. But I purposely neglected to mention just how this rebirth of the Alfa Brand came about and who was behind it.
You see because the Stelvio was actually planned at the same time the Giulia was! And was dreamed up by late Alfa boss Sergio Marchionne, who put together a team of ex-Ferrari engineers including Roberto Fedeli, Philippe Krief and Gianluca Pivetti!
And so began work on a new flexible Platform dubbed “Giorgio”. A platform that cost 5 billion euros to develop, and one meant to create various body styles, but all to be class leading in dynamism.
First was the Giulia, and now comes the Stelvio Quadrifoglio. The first ever SUV Quadrifoglio. It houses that same 503 BHP V6 twin turbo, the same sweet 8 speed gear box. It’s the lightest in class by 100kg at least thanks to use of aluminium in the engine, bonnet, wheel arches, doors, tailgate and much more, as well as a carbon fibre prop shaft.
But unlike the RWD Giulia, this has Alfa’s Q4 all wheel drive, and we’ll see how that behaves in the review.
But will the car behave enough like the Giulia to make it worthy enough on it’s own? And being an SUV, it is compelling enough for us petrolheads to accept as a proper sports car?

By far the best review of the Quad. I have watched - congratulations. Not the usual bullshit 0-100 km/h launches, etc. You, at least, understand what a real driver would want from such a car, and what is just trivia. Good work 👍

One tiny point: ‘exhaust buttons’ are for ******s - embarrassing - other than that, spot on.

I think you are totally right,but that won't stop me. Eventually people will get over that stigma.I owned 2 Alfas in the pass and will definitely buy 1-3 more very soon

@@spagbowlsparmacheese629 ...You know why they don't change? Because in Europe the vast majority are company leased ...and they do not have to support their maintenance costs and always get a replacement car every time they need repairs, which is more frequent than most other brands these days.

TheHidalgo99 I stopped watching Shmee when he picked up a new car over the past few months while the world was shutting down, businesses going bankrupt, people not feeding their kids etc etc and this guy continued to bang on about his appetite for new cars. I used to enjoy it but I saw it in a new light over this pandemic period. Most of these you tubers and “influencers” live in a bubble.....

So far, I've only seen one review in the entire youtube where the reviewer is not passionate while driving a Quadrifoglio. The engine and its performance are brilliant.
So I have to say it is refreshing to be able to watch someone not only talk about a vehicle, but to learn some of the history of that vehicle as well. I haven't seen anyone on KZread yet who spends as much time talking about those little tidbits of information the way that you do. I am old school and enjoy the history. You do a great job of this and it is much appreciated. On a sidenote I live in the Uk for six years during my days in the military. In those days the Sierra Cosworth, Escort Cosworth and Lotus Carlton were on the roads. Damn those were the days. I bought my first and only 911 while living in the UK. I love them, but I need a bit more room nowadays. So I picked up a 2018 Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio two days after Christmas while at home on a short break from work. You did a great review on that vehicle and I am now watching your review on the Stelvio QV. I drove that vehicle as well, but chose the Giulia. I think I will be fine. Thanks for the hard work.
Happy to see Alfa back on the map with this and the Guilia. Since I'm a sedan guy - I'd go with the Guila. Yes, I love that steering wheel as well - (sat in the Guilia Quad at the autoshow). But one thing I find myself disagreeing with many car reviewers - I still like the analog dials - something to be said for needles moving up and down. I really love the old Mercedes orange ones, like we have an our CLK 430. It's become classic. But don't get me wrong, I love the new tech in cars and how that fits in with the different driving modes. But as long as the info-tainment is done right, that part of me is happy.
You are a proper presenter. Better than even some on the television. Please keep making these, you have a knack. The fact that you ‘get’ Alfa proves that you are a proper petrolhead. Cheers.

Had ours 8 weeks now and love it. Sold an M2 for it and have never looked back. Don’t think build quality think fun and you to will enjoy the shear brilliance of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio.

MrDallman hi. It’s very easy to live with on a day-to-day basis, the ride comfort is towards the firm side even with the suspension in it’s softest setting. I wouldn’t let this discourage you from the vehicle as for me it lets you know you are driving something with serious potential. Although in its hardest setting it can be a little too firm on most British roads. Everything else about the vehicle is absolutely spot-on and if you think of it as a slightly jacked up sports coupe rather than a 4×4.

These 2 Alfa’s have caught my eye. At our 2018 auto show I thought enough of them to add to my future car / suv list. Now at 2019’s auto show I’m ready for a drive. I have to wait one more year but that will give me a chance to see how it will depreciate. The Stelvio is a great looking performance SUV with Ferrari DNA. Great review.

Great car, great review! Cool effects as well! I hope they make a Giulia Sprint as a coupe version. I also hope for a bit more powerful Giulia Sprint Veloce and then I want a more extreme, lighter, more track focused, limited edition Giulia Sprint GTA to be complete...yes!

The iteration nr.1 and it's just the best SuperSportUtilityVehicle under 90K! Can't be beaten. And it'll be further improved in the next iteration (IBS, and Navigator). This is real fun to drive. And I like the AWD and bigger trunk.

A great review, I've sat in the same Stelvio QF and don't like the way the carbon seats feel tbh. I have a Giulia QF with the standard seats and they are just glorious. But, for looks alone I agree those carbon seats are on the money. If Alfa launch that Coupe with those looks, then I'm trading my Giulia QF in for it without a doubt.

I agree, so I bought the my Stelvio with the standard ones as well. To be fair, the carbon seats were made for the Gulia and those wanting to reduce weight and look more exotic. I don't understand why people do this. Same with the Lamborghini's, Mclaren's etc...people are like look I got the paper thin carbon seats that are really stiff and uncomfortable, but they saved 80 pounds in weight. I would love to race you at a still to see if the 70/30 wheel bias beats the lighter Giulia.
