    I still love the 020 platform & it’s not like the 030 blows it out of the water. It’s a great drift car & it’s almost superior to the 030 in the fact that it can fit almost every autoscale body.

    Old video, but with the MA-20 I noticed you can remove the motor without taking off the rear. Just remove the clip and unscrew the wires. From the clip side you can use a slim flat head and gently slide the motor down and out. When re-installing I had the gear flush with the motor and used the pinon tool to adjust the motor gear back to the rear to mesh once back in the car.

    Hello, welcome to the club! These little mini-z are a lot of fun for indoors, & I can only imagine how much better it would be to share this with your son. I’m happy for you guys, have fun with it! For the motor mounts, the letter corresponds with a gear ratio & the number refers to the placement on the motor. For example, the stock gear ratio use the A1 & A2 mounts, A1 goes on the front of the motor & A2 goes on the back. If you want to change the gears, you also change the motor mounts so the gears can mesh properly. Hope this helps & let me know if you have any further questions, have a great rest of your day man!

    Stock gearing is as torquey as it’s going to get. If you want to make the car easier to break lose, then look into different tires. Specifically DS Racing LF-5 or LF-5s, they will noticeably slow the drifts down & make the car much easier to break lose. Hope this helps brother! Good luck

    I wanted to ask you something, (not related to this video).. I bought two AWD MA20's (Supra and Celica) and my son and I are having a blast. Both drifting and racing with high grip 20 shore tires. I have a large living room and hard tile floor, so we dont need a "track". I use masking tape to mark off the lanes and beanbags for the sides of the wall. Works well. Anyway, I know some of the super car bodies will fit if I do the mod to 98mm. However, I was just thinking it might be better to get two more (RWD) MR03's BUT, I wanted to get an idea from you on how they will handle vs. what we have now. What we have now is great and the AWD is amazing. With the high grip tires, we never loose traction and get some crazy speed going. My fear, is with a RWD, we will be sliding and loosing grip around corners, or braking? I would also use the Gyro.. so maybe that will help. But, overall wanted to get your thoughts?

  • @BMR3

    @BMR3

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hey man, that’s great to hear your having a blast with your son. That’s what’s it’s all about & I can’t wait to be in a similar position. Regarding the MR-03, you will be surprised with how much faster it is then the ma-020. It’s over all more agile & has a tighter turn radius plus more juice going to the rear tires. They are quick & a lot of fun for your scenario. Don’t worry about it losing grip. Grip is a balancing act of driving surface, tire compound & suspension/spring tension. If you find you need more grip just get softer tires, if you have too much grip & the car is rolling over in corners there are a multitude of things that can be done before going to a harder compound (like gluing sidewalls & playing with T plates). Sorry I’m not a huge help but I have limited experience with RWD touring cars. I suggest looking up some of the channels focused around touring or reach out to the Facebook groups for info, they have a wealth of knowledge.

    @@BMR3 You're a great guy BMR. Thank you. Yeah, part of me does not want to spend another $500 on two more kits, lol. I am trying to carefully think about it and decide if it's worth doing or not. Part of me worries that the "fun factor" wont go up too much more vs. what we have now (which is amazing). The AWD car's are really great. Your last comment makes sense, that the RWD have tighter turning. I guess this is why they are preferred on actual tracks, as they have tight corners etc. So, that makes sense. Here in my little setup, its more of an oval (zoom up, turn and zoom back), I might add some slight changes, and yes I can see that the Mini Z AWD models I have, dont have the tight turning that even my Mini z buggy has (love them too). But, again hard to say if its worth the spend. I was also thinking of getting the "Speed X" motor (I got that in the buggy and noticed a difference) without having to go brushless. So, no idea what I am going to do, lol. I keep looking at the shopping cart and keep backing out, thinking I need to give it more time with the AWD and just be happy with that and not get crazy with this addiction!

  • @BMR3

    @BMR3

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@travisharrisphotography good point & I agree that your fun factor won’t go up much by switching to RWD. You only really notice the difference when clocking lap times, but with racing around the house a few tenths of a second are not even noticeable. To be perfectly honest I think you should stick with the AWD & get the 98mm conversion kit if you want to run some super car bodies. I mean you could use a dedicated MR-03 chassis for the longer racing style bodies, but I don’t know if that’s worth the extra cash… You might enjoy spending that money on some rare bodies more then a “racing” chassis.

  • @adogde6874
    @adogde68744 жыл бұрын

    Welcome. I have a question whether these aluminum parts do not adversely affect the weight of the car? Second question: you have installed Al-alloy Front Upper Cover from m-power. Will it not get dust and dirt into the bearings and through the Front Oneway Unit through this hole?

  • @BMR3

    @BMR3

    4 жыл бұрын

    If you watch the whole video, I weigh the parts so you can see exactly how much weight is added per part. But in total, the aluminum front end parts weight only 3 grams more then the stock plastic parts. The added weight is negligible since it’s so small. The diff could get more dirt in there, but the open cover also makes it easier to blow it out with pressurized air to clean it. I always make sure to clean the area I’m drifting in before I start so it really doesn’t matter for me
