MPN Hero Nichole Ard has a close relationship with the patients in her myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN) clinical trials. As a Senior Clinical Studies Coordinator at MD Anderson, she knows how vital it is to bring information-and hope-to those entering a clinical trial. Nichole learned the impact of strong patient connections from her mother’s experience as a patient at the same hospital she works at now. She uses her knowledge to simplify complex medical information for her patients so they can understand their next steps and set expectations throughout their clinical trial journey. As a patient-physician liaison, Nichole is also able to notice little things about a patient’s condition that may be important for her team to know. Nichole is an MPN Hero because her attention to detail and relationships with her patients allow her to focus on excellence in coordinating all aspects of the clinical trials she runs.
