MPN Hero Dr. Andrew Schafer is an influential leader in myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN) research. He has served in many distinguished roles with top research organizations over his career. Today he is the Director of the Richard T. Silver, MD Myeloproliferative Neoplasm Center at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center and a member of the Board of Directors of the MPN Research Foundation. As a previous Chair of the Foundation’s Scientific Advisory Board, Dr. Schafer helped steer the Foundation to fund proposals with the highest potential for success in making a positive impact on patients. Dr. Schafer continues to see patients, and he believes that one of the most valuable aspects of practicing and researching MPNs is the ability to discover what is unique about an individual patient's experiences.
