I was starting to lean towards mpc live for all the extra io, but I think the extra buttons and their "clicky" feel would be a much faster work flow for me. I have more a background with digitakt and trackers, so quick shortcut options go far

Great vid Ave! Love the look of these retro devices... The iPhone looks great too man, are you shooting with multiple lenses on the iPhone at the same time? I know you can do it, just have never tried it... but it means a super high-res way to shoot wide and tight top down shots like you have in here. Anyhow, thanks for answering a bunch of questions I had on the MPC One Retro!

Thanks for the demo. I always wanted the Live, couldn’t afford it till just recently. Man I’m glad that when I could the LiveII came out. I heard you say you can upgrade the memory ram from 2g to if you know how much will it handle? Can I put a 16g? I have a request, I play a lot of blues, Delta Blues mostly and would like to know how to get that really old school drumming down. I get close but having a hard time keeping it throughout when I add a rollin in, you know that slow raunchy Mississippi beat. It just sounds to modern. I have enough packs to chose from but it just sounds to modern and happy. When I edit the sound there is something missing that one function I can’t find. Sampling, sorry but I like to kinda do it myself. I did however try it but just didn’t have that natural feel. On that note maybe a recommendation on a particular I/O? Thanks again!

I like the color but i will be keeping my og one. I do wish the buttons were backlit though like the live/live 2

retro colorway looks fantastic, esp the grey pads.... they missed on making the knobs grey but to be fair the knob on the mpc60 was also black... so it is in keeping with that model.

@@AveMcree I think the knurled knobs they used to have would look pretty great. The knobs they have now are kinda boring and plain looking. But I also know that not all anodized knobs are conductive and so may not work with that feature, so... I guess it is what it is and nice to have something, at least.

They did a great job except for the area around the pads and the area behind the transportkeys. The color is too dark. On the Legacy machines it's a light grey. But these are stunning looking machines and Akai knows that. The X retro will be coming.

They stay raising the price on these. Ima just wait for the MPC Two cus the price increase is crazy

@@AveMcree maybe but I doubt that. Apple keeps they prices the same. Akai raised it $100 for the mpc gold and now they raised it another $100 for the retro. They know what they doing 😂. Only way to get one for the old $699 price is to preorder one through sweetwater or somewhere similar

@@goldgrams2524 I'm not super informed on this stuff, but Akai is a Japanese company and Apple is a U.S. one, so this isn't a good comparison, as only some parts in Apple products would be more expensive. Not to mention MPCs require a lot more raw materials overall than an iPhone does. And Apple has been charging customers a premium for a decade.

My MPC One should have been with me today. There's still time tho. Originally ordered just the black, and after waiting over a week I was told it was found to be a faulty unit after the 'obligatory shop test' . I was then informed no black in stock now until July!. I complained like hell and in the end they gave me a Gold edition for the same price, and also dropped the postal charge. Retro also sold out. I'm happy tho 😁👍

I really like the way this thing looks, though I wish they'd have managed different colored knobs from the original One/Live/X, etc. Thanks for sharing! And making me rethink choices and if I need yet another beatmaker XD How do the pads feel, as far as to the touch? Love MPCs but do not like the way the pads feel on the modern ones. Hard rubber, feel weird against my fingers, as opposed to Maschine that feels so silky smooth to the touch and I love it. Word on the street is that using USB audio interfaces is in beta >_>

It's coming ... Fo sho Akai is not gonna pass on a sales boost by simply changing a cover and some pads. Expect the X retro around the end of this year. After that the new gen MPCs will be coming in late 22/beginning 23.

How do you feel about the location of the pads? Like bottom of the screen vs left of the screen. I feel like being on the left would be a bit odd for me.

Depends. You get a helluva lot more compared to the One. It only matters wether you care for that. The battery, speaker and top volume knob alone are worth the money, not to mention the 1/4 inch headphone jack.

The battery is the fastest aging part of any device. Retro devices are still great partially because they don't rely on batteries.

It looks nice but im fine with my gold one. 100 extra $ isnt really worth my going out of my way for it
