Thank you for the very helpful video. I just bought two of these for my 9 year old twins. This means I’ll have to program these functions twice in the very near future. I suppose it will help them learn some of the functions of the device but I’m surprised that Akai didn’t provide some device-specific presets since they own the software and the hardware.

Tanks. That works very good with pads. But the problem I have is with the keyboard. First keys an last ones does´t sound. I can´t find the way to map the full keyboard

These things are generally a novelty and a toy without expensive software and a sound knowledge of music production. you can do a lot more with many standalone apps.

Great video...but when I set up my pads, they start about 2 octaves higher than yours on C major or any key. How do I get it down a couple octaves (bank B follows the notes in progression from A). Thnaks. Aan

So, when I tried to connect my drum pads, only some would work during the first A settings, but when I tried it for the B setting, it worked for that assigned drum pad. Is there any reason why it did this?

hi im just trying to figure out how to make my pads make sound while keyboard is working like a keyboard at the same time. Like if i get the keys to play like actual keys, then i hear no sound from the pads. But whenever i get the pads to make sounds, my keys dont work like a keyboard anymore and will act more like pads than keys with preset sounds. How do i get it to where i can play the keys like an actual piano while still having pads that can have drums and stuff on it?

Nice. I’ve done multiple videos on setting up pads and qlinks with MPC Beats. Figure I’d put one out for the new MPK mini play mk3 since people are probably looking for the new one and there is no template for it that I can see. Thanks for the comment.

Isn’t there a template for the original MPK mini play? I tried selecting it and it didn’t seem to work for the mk3.

@@MatthewStratton there is now but at the time I made the video a few weeks after MPC BEATS was released there was not. The template for the PLAY didn’t get added until MPC BEATS 2.10. I have a video for that also.

If you make a template with mpc beats will the template work on all daws

When I open preferences Midi/sync there is in input and output ports.

Thank you Matthew. I just upgraded from mpc beats to mpc 2.11 and couldn't get the multidrum synth to work correctly with the mpk mini and this did the trick. Now if I could figure out how to get the vst programs like mini grand to work in the mpc 2.11 that would be great also the songs I created in mpc beats to load into mpc 2.11 maybe you have a link to that. Tried loading mini grand vst in preferences but just keeps failing when trying to load plug-in. Anyhow thanks again

I've been having a problem with my AKI MPK MINI PRO. How can I fix my problems if my keys on my AKAI MPK MINI PRO don't seem to be working even if I have a vst plugged in. i can select a different instruments it just sounds a little different because of the instruments but the pads nor the keyboard seem to be working it's been really frustrating I have like two days trying to fix my problem, trying to watch video tutorials I want to try to reset it up I don't seem to find an answer. Is my AKI MPK MINI PRO broken? I just got it like a month ago. what I do want to stress is that there is some sound when I touch a pad or the keyboard but it's not like the complete sound of the VST of the instruments. it's like a partial end of a sound or the only the beginning but it cuts off it's not really the complete sound like of a piano or a drum. It's sound like a cut of piano😂.

I was just wondering if anybody could just give me some advice.

What is the name of the computer software you’re using?

the software is auto reconizing the key board as alesis 9 and when i import the saved map it doesnt work

for me when i press my second pad it shows up as 38 in stead of 37

This is a whole new world to me! Am I able to change the drum sounds to make them sound better and use those sound without the computer? I guess eq or change and save different drum sounds to the pads that are not in the device. Hope that makes sense. Thank you!

I was gunna ask the same thing, 'cause these factory drums are kinda whack. haha I was hoping to be able to use the encoder knobs, to manipulate the drums into sounding better, but that's a no-go. So my next move, was to try and upload decent drums from MPC Beats (or whatever/wherever), and save them to use later without having the Mini Play connected to a computer......but I'm honestly not sure that's even an option, unfortunately. I can't find anything online, with the aim of doing so.

The only think I can find, was in the manual - which d-o-e-s make it sound like you can save external drums onto pads, when the Mini Play is connected to a computer.....but, I'm still not sure if they'll still be saved once disconnected. I'll try and check it out tomorrow. Internal Sounds: Press this button to enable/disable the internal sounds when a key or pad is pressed. When disabled, your MPK mini Play mk3 will send and receive MIDI only using the USB port. Press and hold this button and the Favorites button and then tap one of the eight pads to store your Favorite to that location.

I dont know whats up with mine if its broken or user error! I have followed this video 20 times my pads are just not assigning! I tap on the one pad in MPC then tap the 1 pad on the mpk and NOTHING populates...im going insane rn.

Hi! i have a question regarding the mini plays, how do you sync the arpeggiator to any DAW (i've seen the program for the non-play versions and it does not work for plays) and is it possible to link the arpeggiator to another synth when plpaying as the standalone keyboard? Thanks!

Once you program it, do you have to enable and select the program every time you open MPC Beats or will it automatically save the settings?

Don't worry just unplug it, if it didn't work reinstall the frimware from their website.

Where at, it isn't in my log in or when I check for updates in the software...I have seen the Sonic State video preview though.

Where are you trying to download firmware and drivers for the MPK mini Play MK3? I don't see those links in the log in. If you are talking about the MPC I don't see any errors when I click on the firmware download link in my log in area. Are you downloading from the log in?
